Welcome graphic

Hello! I am Audrey and this is my web page. Here is where you can come to see what is new in my world. I keep pretty busy, so be sure to check often.

I was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome in September of 2005 when I was just 22 months old.  In the time since my diagnosis, I have made some great progress.  My physical therapy has helped me a lot and I took MY FIRST STEPS in August of 2006!!  I started pre-school in September 2006 and I love it.  My teachers are so nice.  I get to ride the school bus too.  School has started again and I am looking forward to another year.

Activities

I participated in 2 Strollathons for the Rett Syndrome Research Foundation last year. The first was September 17, 2006 in Roanoke, Virginia and the second was October 15, 2006 in Fairfax, Virginia.   Together "Team Audrey" raised more than $3000 for RSRF and the two Strollathons combined raised $112,000!!!  We will be strolling again October 21, 2007 in Fairfax.  Be sure to donate.  We would love to beat those numbers this year.  Did you check out the research update?  That is what your contributions are doing.  They are finding a CURE!!!  Now is the time to GIVE BIG!!!!

Did you know that The International Rett Syndrome Association and The Rett Syndrome Research Foundation have merged?  This is great news!  The 2 premier Rett Syndrome charities are now The International Rett Syndrome Foundation ("IRSF").  Double the strength, double the results.  This merger is going to really put Rett Syndrome research into high gear.  We are excited about the future and expect great things to happen.  We need your help to do it!

Won't you sponsor me and make a donation to IRSF?  Be sure to indicate the Fairfax Strollathon and "Team Audrey" in the comments section.  You can also send your checks to me (made out to "IRSF").  E-mail me if you need my address!  Just because the Strollathons are over doesn't mean you can't donate.  It's never to late to help find a cure for Rett Syndrome.

You can mail checks directly to IRSF at:

Kevin Black & Audrey in Washington DC.

In March, I went with Mom and Dad and lots of other families to lobby congress for funding for The International Rett Syndrome Association.  Our celebrity speaker was country singer Kevin Black, who also happens to be Clint Black's brother.  Kevin's daughter Courtney had Rett Syndrome too.  Check out the super cool slideshow that shows you all that went on that day.
