MEMORY VERSES

 James 1

12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

19My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. 21Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.

26If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. 27Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

2011 Season Blog

9/26/11
Wow...what a surprise.  I have never been more surprised at the outcome of a game in 10 years than I was last Friday night.  The Woodlands is a very good team and I was incredibly proud of how the boys played.  They had great confidence and yet respect for their opponents and they never let their intensity wavier.  I am extremely impressed with this group of young men and they deserve a lot of credit for winning 5 straight games this season.  That being said we still have room for improvement. After watching films we had more mental mistakes than I would have wanted on the offense and I think we can improve a in our consistency.  I think the defense played the best game of the year and yet there are things we can improve there as well. It doesn’t get any easier from here.  Katy is a good team that matches up better against us then The Woodlands did.  They have a little better run defense and they are not as fast but look a little bigger and may be harder for us to run the ball on.  They have a good offense as well although they play more into our strength so I hope we will be able to control them.  It’s been a great time so far and as long as the guys keep up the focus and intensity it should continue to be a great season.  If we control the ball and don’t commit turnovers I think we have a good shot at winning again this Friday

Great game last week against our cross town rivals.  I feel like the team took a big step forward and played more consistently at a higher level.  The Offensive line had a great game as did the entire defense.  The team deserves allot of credit for the first ever 4-0 start at Brazos Christian and they earned every win.  The boys have worked hard and I am excited for thier success. This week we will face the best offense we have faced all year…and maybe the best one we will face this season.  The Woodlands returns nearly all of their starters from last year and will be ready to play.  It was  close game last year and I would expect the same for this coming game.  If we can control the ball and keep their offense on the sidelines we should have a good chance to be victorious this Friday night

As I suspected TSD was a good football team that challenged our defense with their speed.  The guys responded well to the challenge and made some adjustments that slowed down the TSD attack.  Offensively the O line controlled the lline of scrimmage giving our backs lanes to run in which they took advantage of ...overall giving us a good offensive game.  We reduced our turnovers and controled the ball better.  This week we play our cross town rivals St. Joes.  They are down this year and have had a rough season so far.  We will be their homecoming game and they will play their best game against us.  Records dont matter on this week it is all about the rivalry and we will have to be ready to play.  They were very good in 7 on 7 this summer so they can move the ball if we don't stop them.  Should be  a great cross town rival, Texas highschool football game.

Friday was an interesting game for us.  We played well and at the same time made many, many mistakes that will cost us in future games if we don't get them corrected.  Snook was a much better team than last year and their program is improving very quickly.  I don’t believe we took them for granted but I do believe they were better than we expected.  Having watched the film they did some things defensively that hurt us because we did not pick up on them.  This is fixable and we will work on them this week. TSD is a team much like Snook in that they have some good athletes and will challenge our defense with multiple players that have good speed. Offensively we should be able to move the ball as long as we pick up our assignments better and do not turn the ball over.    I feel like we are improving every week and I think this should be a good game in Austin and hopefully we will play well and come home with a victory.

We started the year off with a great win over a very good Cypress Christian Football team.  After watching film I would say we played well but made lots of mistakes.  I think we are fortunate to have escaped with a win and hopefully this week we will improve our execution and mental toughness.  I will say that we certainly did not fool anyone and just lined up and played hard hitting, tough nosed football.  I am very proud of the guys and I think we improved considerably from our scrimmage against Iola.  If we can improve the same amount for our game against Snook I think we should have a good game.  Snook is a very different football team from the teams we have played in the past .  They outplayed their opponents in their scrimmage and won their first Varsity football game 58 to 20,  I believe they will show up ready to play and as long as we don’t show up flat we should have a good game and emerge with a win.

We had a good scrimmage yesterday against a good Iola football team.  We were much improved in ball handling, and tackling and we appear to be gelling as a team.  We have a lot of work to do before we play a very good Cypress Christian team this coming Friday.   We still have to get our assignments down on offense, and we need to continue to increase our level of aggressiveness on Defense.   If we can get a couple of guys healthy and finalize our preperation on special teams, we could have a good game this Friday.

We were blessed with a great camp. Spiritually, physically and metally we improved and had a great time as well.  We were able to make a few adjustments and moves on the field that are going to make us a better team and we made some progress toward getting where we need to get in order play the way we want to.  We avoided any serious injuries and over all had a very good camp. Thanks to all those who made it possible including but not limited to Troy Elms, John McNair, Kieth Owen, Walt Holt, and Kevin Berra.  Looks like the chemistry on this team is going to be one of the best we have ever had...i look for them to have a very good season.

7/29/11
I will try to keep you posted on how the season is going.  Typically I dont have alot of time for this blog but i will do my best to make comments on a regular basis.

As of the begining of the season we are poised to have what I think is going to be a really good team.  We currently have more quality linemen than we have ever had.  This is crucial for a championship team and I am excited about the quality of players we have at that spot.  Behind them we have some inexperienced but very talented backs so with a little work we may have a very productive offense.

Our defense will also benefit from the bigger stronger bodies we will have this year.  Our summer workout program has paid great dividends and if we can get the mental work done I would expect a quick start the seson.
