Built by Don & Joanne Sandstrom, "Anduril" (The Flaming Sword of the West for the J.R.R. Tolkien impaired) was
born into water on Thursday, July 17, 1975 at 9:15 A.M. According to her "Birth Announcement", she weighed in
at 7,516 lbs. and 9 ozs., was 40' 1/2" long.
Don, Joanne, Donald and Eric proceeded to circumnavigate the globe not just once, but twice. "Anduril" has
logged tens of thousands of miles in more than 30 years. This photo, taken January 29, 2002, shows the enduring beauty of
the classic Cross lines, as well as the durability of plywood construction. The West SystemŽ was used throughout "Anduril's"
construction. Fiberglass cloth was used only to tape the gunnels, keels and other seams.
