Tuesday - June 7, 2005 - Morning
I came up with some draft ideas for blog pieces this morning and thought I'd put them down in a rough form for future polishing or throwing out depending on how the thread holds.
Hedge Fund - Draft Idea
Perfect market theory not always true.
Ends of the scale - momentum traders and out of favor stocks.
Value stocks (our of favor) vs. growth (momentum) stocks.
Over reaction on both ends - people overreact when they jump on the bandwagon and again when they jump off the bandwagon. Lemmings. Buffalo. Herd instinct.
Hedge fund don't care if market goes up or down. "Hedge" buy a group of "value" stocks and shorts a group of "growth" stocks.

An Author Who Never Uses The Internet for Information - Draft Idea
When asked the question, "Do you troll through the internet for ideas?"
Richard Preston replies,
"... No. I find the Internet virtually useless in that respect. The problem with the Internet is that you can read Web page after Web page and never get the sense that you are either hearing the straight story, or learning something
new. So much of it seems incomplete, half-baked, or just repackaged
information."
