The Washington State Department of Transportation halts Hood Canal graving Dock project in honor & respect
for the Lower Elwha tribe, who have asked them to do so, because of the significant number of ancestors remains that were
discovered during a mandated archeological study. It was a proper way to start off this new year, despite the contraversy
& advisary they faced. Our hands go up to them....a Healing ceremony also took place to appease the ancestors who were
disturbed: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/sr104hoodcanalbridgeeast/

LAST YEAR'S EVENTS...2004
Sept 1 2004: A group from the House of Tears
Carvers, left Semiahmah (WA) with a set of handhewn totem poles, they called Liberty & Freedom, trucked by Scott
Kinley on his semi. It was a very moving experience & I was very glad to be part of the blessing & prayer ceremony
that was attended by 100's of people, wishing them safe journey & arrival to the Pentagon, traveling 1000's of miles across
the United states, for the third time, to honor Victims of the 911 incidents, that changed America forever. I was also lucky
enough to be attending the Opening of the new National Museum of the American Indian, in DC, so I was there when the dedication
ceremony for the poles, this time to the Pentagon & the families of those who lost their lives there. Please visit the
Lummi Nation/ House of Tears Carvers website for the stories re: past totem poles that were brought from our NW terrtitory
to the East coast. Thank you to the Lummi Nation & their carvers for just such a healing, that the ancestors would smile
down upon!
