Shopping around for a magician?
I
encourage you to shop around to get the right magician for your upcoming event. I personally want you to make the right decision;
I want your event to be a success. After all, the wrong entertainer could make for a really bad experience and whether you
book me or not, I want you to be happy.
When
shopping around, please keep in mind the following:
- Performance fee: If you are looking to book a magician on price alone, it is best NOT to have a magician. Keep in mind that cheaper
does not mean better and you WILL get what you pay for. My performance fee is competitive with other performers with a
similar quality of performance. I’ve been in this business a very long time and have heard numerous horror stories
of a “cheaper” magician being hired and what a bad job they did. Their show wasn’t appropriate for that
audience, they were late etc. One client even told me that the entertainer showed up DRUNK and used foul language….
at a KIDS PARTY! They definatly got what they paid for.
- Ask for references: Any professional magician will be able to provide names and numbers for you to contact. Call them and inquire as
to the professionalism of that magician and also the entertainment value of his show. Did he show up on time? Was he dressed
appropriately? Was their magic entertaining? Etc. I have references upon request and you can come see me live in person,
before you book me. I would encourage you to go visit any magician that you are considering for your event. You need
to see what you are getting before you get it.
- Make sure that the magician has his own sound
system: Any professional magician will have his own sound system. I
use a professional, computerized theatrical sound system (Not just a boom box). If you have a large party, and your magician
cannot be heard, you’re going to be disappointed.
- Hire a professional magician: Magic has been my full time profession since 1991. I perform between 8-20 shows a week. If
quality matters, make sure that the magician you hire is a full time magician, not just a weekend hobyist. If you can't
afford a professional magician, it would be best for you to not get a magician at all. Instead, buy
the birthday person a bigger gift.
- Make sure that you are comfortable with the magician
with whom you are speaking: If
you are not comfortable with them on the phone, you won’t be comfortable with them in your living room.
In
closing, I really appreciate your time and inquiry of my magical services. I hope that I am able to assist you in hiring the
right entertainer for your upcoming event. If you have ANY questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks
for your time!!!
