Sara Jane and Billy with her 2004 Le Mans Blue Commemorative Special Edition Convertible Corvette:

 (Billy gets to wash, wax and maintain Sara's Corvette and ever since totaling the 1978 Dark Blue L82 Corvette in 1994 Billy has been trying to get out of the dog house so to speak -- also notice in this photo Billy still has his pony tail, July 2004 )

Other Corvettes we have owned:

 1978 Dark Metallic Blue L82 4 speed coupe: 1981 Corvette/Porsche Challenge III at TWS 1st Corvette in Class; NCCC 1992 Convention in Ft Worth, TX 1st place rally winner (Sara Jane and Sue Bulriss)

  1969 Blue 350/350 4 speed A/C convertible: 1984 (Billy and Sara) and 1985 (R. Farmer)drag record holder Group 1B; 1982 NCCC convention in Houston, TX group 1B 2nd place (ahead of T. Moore in his white 63 split window); Sara won the 1983 LCC curb hop award (T. Moore presented)-- ask Billy about the story

  1970 Yellow LT1 convertible: SCCA Temple Hill Climb champion 3 years; 1985 Corvette/Porsche Challenge VII at TWS 1st and 3rd in Class (Jeff and Billy); 1985 NCCC convention in Tulsa, OK drags and autocross winner (Sara) and 2nd place (Billy) in Group 1B --- this car was very fast ask Tom Moore (see photo below)

  1962 Pearl White convertible (old NHRA ModB sports car):  current NCCC Group 3 CLM (classic modified)record holder at 10:76 ET at SeaLevel, 136 MPH mens; 10:82 ladies; multiple top eliminator champsions including ladies TE at 1992 NCCC convention; Sara and Billy were SW region drag champions multiple years; won best competition car at the 1991 Austin Hot Rod Car Show; to see a picture visit Longhorn Corvette Club web site and view previous Austin Corvette Day lead in photo at the gas pumps at Rudy's   -- this was a fun car to race especially with drum brakes all around! -- (see photos below)

  1978 Pace Car L82 automatic: replaced Sara's blue 1978 after Billy totaled the 78 and has been in Sara's dog house ever since

Other Classic Cars we have owned or own:

1970 Monte Carlo: 350 SB, Qjet, 350AT, bucket seats and SS trim -- this was the 1969 Texas State Fair show car for Chevrolet and 350 SB with 4 barrel and factory dual exhausts was very rare

1987 Mustang GT:  Black with Red interior, all the goody's -- this was Jeff's car until he got too many speeding tickets

1961 Chevrolet BelAir: 283ci 230HP, 4speed, 4:56 posi, radio delete -- this was Billy's high school car which he ordered new in March of 1961 for $1783 and drag raced for many years all over Texas and southwest -- in 1963 Billy won Little Stock Elminator at the AHRA Nationals at Green Valley, Fort Worth, Texas. I had made chassis mods and tuning techniques I saw used by other racers such as Dickie Harrell. This car ran in the high 14 second range which was very good in 1961/63 using "cheater slicks" and weighting close to 3600 pounds!!. -- (see photos below)

This is Billy's latest car and a keeper. It is a 1961 Chevrolet Impala 409 Super Sport. This car has a 1963 425HP/409CI+.040 with 2x4s, a Richmond 5 speed, a Ford 9 inch, 4 wheel disk brakes. I refined the disk brakes and added better lowering springs and a heavier front sway bar. White with red interior -- just fun to drive to cruises and other car club activities -- it's not pristine (not a show car) and is a little bit of a pro street rod...

Next who knows:::

Our Cats -- the real bosses -- Pilar and P. Newman:

100_0553.jpg

These were two of three abandon cats found in NJ by our daughter-in-law, Linda.  At the time with all the animals that Jeff and Linda had Sara and I  "decided to bring two of the three home with the one already promised". This is our first time in a very long time to have pets and now we can't live without these guys.  P.Newman, the male, was brought home when he was just a few weeks old. Pilar was a couple of months older when we brought her back to Austin and she flew with me returning from an east coast business trip. They are brother and sister as if you cannot tell. Newman is 20+ pounds and Pilar is about 13 pounds, big for cats.

For those of you who know me well, when I talk about my drinking partner it is Pilar. She goes out on the front porch of our house with me and sits in the chair as I have my beer-30. Newman comes out also but he tends to wander like an alley cat will and I don't want the have to chase after him so he ends up back in the house, mad of course. In any case, these are my regular AA (Altitude Adjustment) drinking partners now that I am a full time retiree from IBM after 39 years, 5 months and 18 days but whose counting. For the past 4 years I had been a full time W@H (work at home) employee of IBM so that part hasn't changed but finding something to do all day may be a challenge.
