This month's On the Road Essay takes us to to the top of Maui's Mount Haleakala for sunrise. Many travel sites list
this as one of the premiere natural events in the world -- and it is, indeed, truly spectacular. For the first time I feel
my photographs don't quite do the event justice, but you have to try, right?

My philosophy is that the most important element of any work of art is the effect, positive
or negative, the work has on you, the viewer. If you do not react ... feel ... then what is the point of asking you to look?
Look around, stay a while, maybe even leave a comment. You'll see new features, new works,
and a new design (with a few things yet to come).
