Exploring 4-H is a program for any child who is in the first or second grade (1 or 2). Exploring 4-H’ers are not required to attend meetings, but are encouraged to attend the special activities planned for them. The Exploring 4-H’er and his or her family work together to complete their project. There is no competition in the Exploring program and all youth who complete an exhibit for the fair receive the same blue completion ribbon, pin and certificate. Judges comment sheets are provided.

Project manuals contain suggested activities to help the Exploring 4-H'er learn about their project area. They are not required to complete all activities in the manuals. Parents are encouraged to help the Exploring 4-H'er choose the activities that interest them.

Exploring 4-H Dates to Remember for 2008 -

• Welcome Event - Tuesday, March 25th,  6:00 - 7:00pm  -  This program is planned for first year members or those youth who need an opportunity to ask questions and gather more information before choosing a project.
• Exploring 4-H Workshops - Saturday, April 12th,  9:15 - 10:30am  -  This will be a morning of hands-on fun and a chance to ask questions about your project.  (Pre registration appreciated)
• Exploring 4-H Activities - Monday, May 19th,  6:30 - 7:30pm  -  This is an hour of hands-on fun with a separate meeting for parents to get their 4-H questions answered and help them learn what comes next in 4-H.
• Exploring 4-H Day Camp - Wednesday, June 25th, 9:00am - 3:00pm  -  Camp will feature various activities centered around a theme.  Due to limited enrollment, pre-registration is required.
• Exploring 4-H Project Check-In - Monday, July 14th, 12:00pm (noon) - 7:00pm - All Exploring Projects must be checked-in for Fair display.
• Exploring 4-H Project Check-Out - Monday, July 28th, 11:00am - 6:00pm - All Exploring Project must be picked-up.

Unless otherwise noted, all Exploring Activities are held at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds in Goshen.
