Invocations for the Sabbats
Yule
Dearest God, Dearest Goddess, I give thanks
at another turn of the wheel and rejoice in the birth of the God! On this, the darkest day of the year, I thank you for the
return of the light, and the joy that this season brings. Thank you for the beauty of the world which makes my heart sing.
Though we are in the season of winter, the return of the light promises many wonderful things. I look forward to the times
ahead with open eyes, open hands, and open heart. So Mote it Be.
Imbolc
Dearest God, Dearest Goddess,
I find myself locked in the bleakness of winter, yet I know that life stirs all around me and yearns to spring forth into
the sunshine. The days of Darkness and Light are balanced, if only momentarily, and the wheel continues its turn towards the
light half of the year. I give thanks for the knowledge that after winter comes the spring, that the season of cold is only
that, a season, and as life renews eternal, the warmth and beauty of Spring will return once again. Blessed Be.
Ostara
Dearest
God, Dearest Goddess, the promised Spring has arrived! I rejoice in the blossoming of the world, shedding it's winter coat
in pursuit of warm days of light and sunshine. I am grateful that I, as a living manifestation of the Goddess and the God,
am here on this beautiful Earth to partake of all the gifts that this wonderful season brings. Thank you for the beauty of
your world and all the bounty that it provides. Blessed Be.
Beltane
Dearest God, Dearest Goddess, it
is the season of flowers and everything is green and alive! As the love between you grows and comes to fruition, I grow and
flower as well. Thank you for all the infinite possibilities of growth, the ability to manifest my desires, and for this most
wondrous and beautiful world in which to express them. May the joy of this day be felt by everyone around the world, and may
this joy teach them peace and love for all creation. So Mote it Be.
Litha
Dearest God, Dearest Goddess,
it's midsummer, the longest day of the year, and a time for merriment and rejoicing. Today is a day of mystery, a day of beauty,
a day of pleasure, and a day of bounty, and I am thankful to be alive and in the heart of it. I understand that though we
have today, tomorrow, the wheel turns yet again, and we begin our decent to the dark half of the year. Though the dark half
of the year approaches, I am grateful for what I have today, and understand that the wheel must turn. For without the darkness,
there can be no light; without the winter, no summer. Thank you for the knowledge that what I have today, I will have in all
my tomorrows, for there truly is no end, and everything is a part of the All. Blessed Be.
Lughnasadh
Dearest
God, Dearest Goddess, It is the first harvest and I find myself full of wonder and gratitude. Your children gather together
this day, to mark the turning of the Wheel, and to harvest the bounty that You have provided. This bounty will sustain us
in coming days ahead. Thank you for providing for your children, and blessing them once again with food to nourish both the
body and the soul. I give thanks for the kindness and care that you've shown your children this year, and for the peace that
comes with the knowledge that as the wheel turns, year after year, you will provide for us once again. Blessed Be.
Mabon
Dearest
God, Dearest Goddess, It is now the second harvest and I find myself looking towards the Fall with a sense of wonder and gratitude.
As the God prepares to descend to the underworld, your children gather together, to mark the turning of the Wheel. Life prepares
to rest and the stores that will sustain us in the bleakness of winter are now gathered in. The days of Darkness and Light
are balanced, if only momentarily, and the wheel continues its turn towards the dark half of the year. I realize that the
dark half of the year is necessary, that rest is essential, and I rejoice in knowing that there is a season devoted to looking
inward and reflecting on the Great Wheel and all that it means. I give thanks for the knowledge that after the darkness comes
the light, that the season of darkness is only that, a season, and as life renews eternal, the warmth and beauty of light
half of the year will return once again. Blessed Be.
Samhain
Dearest God, Dearest Goddess, it is now
the third and final harvest of the year. As the God sleeps, preparing to be reborn, your children gather together, looking
inward and reflecting on the past year. I am very grateful to have been a part of your world, and look forward to the year
ahead. But today, while the God sleeps, and the veil between the worlds thins, I look to the past, to those that have gone
before, and I bid them welcome. Welcome home and rejoice, for death is but a doorway, and after death comes renewal and rebirth.
I look forward to the day when I can meet once again with you, my beloved, who have gone before. And know, one day, I too
will walk with thee in the Summerland, until the wheel turns yet again, and we are reborn. Blessed Be.
