Scammer Skidaddle!
ID FRAUD IS
affecting many people unknowingly! IT doesn't matter if you have credit.
Once you become a victim of ID Theft, you'll be looking
over your shoulder for the rest of your life. You think it won't happen to you, BUT more
and more people are victimized everyday. MOST have become ID Theft victims because:
-
They
opened & answered scam emails and/or attachments
-
Their
PC's are vulnerable to Spyware & Trojans
-
Spyware
reads all your files, including the files your browsers keep on your hard drive - that means all your files and all your internet
activity
-
Trojan horses open doors in your firewall, allowing scammers to watch your screen on their computer in real time
-
Your
passwords, user names, entire identity is sold to men and women who pretend to be you to avoid arrest
-
Your passwords, your user names, your entire identity is sold over and over and over
again around the world to unscrupulous people
-
They
set up accounts in your name. commit crimes using your name, establish credit using your name, they even enter
countries illegally using your name
-
They cheat, steal, run drugs, sell illegal firearms, commit fraud, run up huge debts, ALL
UNDER YOUR NAME!
Be sure to
run your anti-spyware and anti-virus programs every day! Although this is no garauntee, it's sure a damn good start. I use
Norton Anti-Virus and Personal Firewall as well as SpyWare Nuker daily. Visit http://www.symantec.com/index.htm for products that could save your ass!
Have
you received an email notification stating that you have won a lottery that you didn't enter? This
serious fraud that is plaguing many people.
Don't be scammed into losing everything or, worse yet, being unknowingly guilty of fraud! Visit
http://www.fraudaid.com/ScamSpam/Lottery/ for additional information.
Do
you have reason to question the orgin of emails sent to you or legitimacy of a website? Use the IP lookup tool below to identify
email orgin and/or website location or visit http://www.ip2location.biz/ for more information.
Following are some Common
Sense questions you should ask about emails you receive:
-
Is the letter or e-mail from a stranger
-
Does the sender have a "free" email account (i.e. Yahoo.com or Hotmail.com)?
-
Does the writer claim to be the wife, son, assistant, attaché or banker to some famous dead person
-
Does the writer claim to be a Chief, Prince, Doctor, Minister, lawyer, king/queen, God, etc.
-
Do the words "secret" or "confidential" appear
-
Did the writer find you "through the internet", or some directory or organization you never heard
of
-
Is the letter addressed to "dear CEO" even though you're a retired dentist, wheat farmer or Proctologist?
-
Is the e-mail From: and To: the same person, or are there hundreds of other e-mail addresses in the Cc:
section of this ultra-secret e-mail?
If any of your emails are subject to any of these conditions, suspect them completely. Remember the olde adage,
"If it sounds too good to be true", you betchaurbuns it's most likely from someone trying to get into your wallet.
A good practice to live by when receiving emails from unknown sources with questionable intention is:
Don't open them, especially any attachment they may
include. Delete them pronto (both inbox & deleted folders) after documenting the routing
of the suspect email if you intend to report to your ISP host or authority. If your email software doesn't show routing detail,
visit http://www.haltabuse.org/help/headers/ for assistance on how you can.
Always report internet scams, whether
real or suspected. It might just save someone you know, not to mention yourself, from being victimized!
