On behalf of the Highland Village Baseball & Softball Association (HVABSA), I would like to
welcome you to the www.hvasoftball.com website where you will find information specific to the softball side of our league. As part of HVABSA, Highland Village
Softball is focused on providing a fastpitch softball program for girls within our community from elementary to middle school
age levels. Our league is
a non-profit group of volunteers dedicated to the ideals of providing a safe and fun environment where our daughters can develop
a solid foundation of fastpitch softball skills and a fundamental understanding of how to successfully play our sport. Our program is open to all girls from Highland Village and the surrounding communities.
The league wants all of our teams to be successful, but success is not all about winning on the field. We are a recreational league first and foremost and we are about teaching ALL of our players how
to properly play softball. Our coaches will consistently provide organized,
skill-oriented practices with a fair opportunity to participate and learn for ALL players. All of our volunteers must consistently use softball as a means to teach our players about sportsmanship,
honesty, fairness, courage, respect, enthusiasm, and work ethic as well as all of the other character traits that can be learned
from playing team sports. If we find success in those things, then we have achieved
victory whether or not we win on the field.
We still acknowledge, however, that our sport is competitive and some players will excel and desire
to play at a higher level of competition. For those players, the league has a
responsibility to provide opportunities for advanced play (including tournament play) in order to better prepare those players
for our local high school softball team. We will, therefore, continue
to develop our relationship with the Marcus High School softball program and will encourage our better players to take those steps necessary
to achieve success at the high school level by developing a Class B program within our oldest age groups.
If you have more questions, please contact your division commissioner or feel free to contact me directly. You can always contact us through our website at www.hvabsa.org.
See you on the fields!
