If it weren't for the ghost, Peter Grant would be filing paperwork for the rest of his career in police work. But then he wouldn’t have a magician mentor who is his immediate superior; a strange relationship with one of the daughters of the River Thames and a case where the perpetrator can literally be anyone. Strange things are afoot in London town and people are, well, they are more agitated than usual. If they are not beating each other with magically appearing sticks, then they are brawling in the streets and setting fire to boats.
