Still building our new website. Keep tuned we're making progress.
August 11, 2006: We're about finished with building this website. The last bit we want to
add are the names of all the committee chairs who work to make this festival one of the most unique festivals in the state.
Hope to finish that soon.

We all have important values and ideas, things we care about and want to share. Our goal is to share our interest in
the pioneer and agricultural heritage that predisposed us to being the people we Americans are today. We want to remind all that
the way of life that our forefathers lived contributed significantly to the way in which this great country grew and progressed
in the one hundred years from 1830 to 1930. If you enjoy American history as much as we do, take a look at what we have included
in our festival, and make plans to come and be a part of " history come alive " in Door Village, ( right next door to
LaPorte, Indiana ).
This site was developed and is being maintained for the purpose of providing information to our community, and the world
at large, about the influence our history made on us as individuals and also on our society as a whole. We feel our heritage
( what was left to us by our forefathers ) is the undergirding that makes us and the world we live in such a great place to
live and raise our families.
The Door Village Community Association, Inc. was created for the one purpose of reunniting our small village after
the loss of our flourshing elementary school. The school was the focal point of the community until it was closed and later
razed, so the Door Village Lions and several other local organizations joined together and created the association to recreate
that feeling of community...and it worked. For the last 17, almost 18 years approximately 150 members of the community
work together to present the Door Village Harvest Festival each Saturday and Sunday after Labor Day. Members do not receive
any pay, but they do feel good about being a part of a community effort that proves that when people want to preserve
a good thing, and are willing to work together to acheive it, it can be done. And the good people of Door Village are doing
it. Community spirit still lives in Door Village, thanks be to God, and several community leaders.
