Everyone asks, "Are you related to the BRINK'S ARMORED TRUCKS?"
In a simple answer, YES! and NO.
My GREAT, GREAT, GREAT Grandfather Washington Perry Brink, founded Brink's City Express, or what
we now know as Brink's Inc. in 1859, in Chicago Illinois. He was known as Perry Brink.
After Perry Brink's death (1874), Brink's Express continued to grow and prosper under the leadership
of his son Arthur P. Brink, Also known as A.P. BRINK, who was my Great, Great Grandfather.
A.P. Brink resigned from the company in 1912 and went to
California a year after his son Percy
Arthur Brink (My Great Grandfather) quit to move west. The company was no longer part of our family, as there
was a lot of different accounts as to how it was lost.
One account was that a partner in the company, "Stole the company" out from A.P. Brink, and that
was why he resigned. At any rate, we are no longer part of the Brink's Company Inc.
Percy Arthur Brink was also known as P.A. Brink had a son in 1903 named Laurence
Kaehler Brink (My Grandfather) in Chicago Illinois.
Laurence Kaehler Brink got married to Lucille Boyd Trenham from Alexandria, Minnesota. They
were married in Los Angeles, CA in 1927.
They Lived in Eagle Rock, Ca just outside of Los Angeles, just west of Pasadena, Ca.
They had 2 sons. My dad Laurence Kaehler Brink, Jr., born in Glendale, Ca in 1928; and my Uncle
William Bradford Brink, born in 1932, also in Glendale.
In case you have not noticed yet, But all the children have somewhere in their names, the name of a relative.
My dad Larry Brink Jr. met and married my mother Carolyn McCarron of Los Angeles, CA
in 1957.
In 1960, My brother Stephen Bradford Brink was born in Santa Monica, Ca followed by me, Burton
Laurence Brink, born in 1963, also in Santa Monica, CA.
Steve B. Brink has 3 Boys; Brian Brink, born Dec, 1992; Brendan Brink, born
April, 1995; and Roberto Brink, born June, 2002.
We lived in West Los Angeles, where we were in the Baldwin Hills Flood of Nov, 1963. In 1967, my mother, who
is an Architect, designed and built our house in Arcadia, CA. This was one of my best memories, where I got to pick
my own bedroom, and "Walk through the walls" of the house, as it was being built. Mom and Dad STILL live in that house.
I moved out, got married and had a Son, Tyler James Brink born in Bellflower, CA in 1993. His
mother and I divorced, and I was blessed to have God send my way my wife and best friend, Gerie Lin Hester,
who I married in 1995.
Gerie Hester, had a son Shawn David Smalldridge, born in Arcadia, CA in 1985.
We lived in Glendora, CA until we had to move to take care of Gerie's parents, Gerald and Gloria
Hester. We bought a house in La Verne, CA in 2002 and now take care of them both here.
