I moved to Venice
in the summer of 2000. I used to own the Fashion Plus Modeling & Dance
Company of Columbus, Ohio for nearly 20 years and was managing editor and publisher of Fashion Plus Magazine. We specialized in fashion
shows and bookings for entertainers. When I was still in my teens, I used to DJ at the Piccadilly Nightclub in Columbus. One night the club owner hired Wolfman Jack to DJ a promotion
& in front of a capacity crowd of 3,000 people I realized that it doesn't matter if you're working with a crowd of
30 in the audience, 300 or 3,000. "You have to perform like its 3,000."
I made my singing debut among my
colleagues at a V.I.P. Fashion Show in July of 1992 and in 1993 signed on with the RollerGirl Show. Our Duo’s
singing act continued for 7 years in Ohio and in Florida
during the winter months. Averaging about 40 shows per winter, we were booked from Disneyworld Parks to Eagles,
Elks, Moose Lodges, VFW’s, and RV parks throughout Florida. The Tour started in Jacksonville and moved down the
Gulf Coast through the Florida Keys.
We then would stop at my parent’s house in Key West for a week’s rest, before heading up the Keys doing alternate show stops.
The shows were also lined up the Atlantic side of Florida and led back to Jacksonville. We repeated that route 2
to 3 times per season.
During the 2000 tour, I met the woman
of my dreams on Venice Beach the night before
entertaining a capacity crowd at Bay Indies mobile home park
of Venice. Just like Venice,
it was love at first sight. Not only had I found “The Greatest Little City in Florida”,
which is my trademark statement. I also found someone I could vow my
pledge of love to. Now, the songs I sing have so much more meaning. They truly are coming from my heart. I sing many
of the songs that my family used to listen to on the radio and television in the late 40’s, 50’s and 60’s.
I do offer some 70's, 80's and a little bit of today's trendy songs. Sandi accompanies me to most shows acting
in public relations and assuring comfortable sound levels.
I'm
looking forward to doing a T.G.I.F. after work party at Sharky's on the Pier from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and having mini fashion
shows by the stores with “The Venice Fashion Show.” I'd enjoy doing the same thing at some of the neighboring country clubs along with various women's
organizations.
Ciao, Bruno
The fashion show part would
be more spontaneous with this scenario. I'm singing a song and at the end of the song, I say "Hey everyone look over there,
the models from the Venice Tropical Shop are here at the party. Then I say, Hello ladies why don't you come up to
the stage and show the audience what you’re wearing? As we talk about the outfits for a minute we mention the stores
specials that week and maybe pass out some store ads. All the shops that are on this websites will be offered these opportunities.
Have you heard my song;
We're Going to The Keys?
