Our History
The Antelope Valley Treasure Hunter’s Society (AVTHS) was founded in 1980 by a small group interested
in metal detecting. Since then we have steadily grown and our membership now includes those not only interested
in metal detecting, but all types of treasure hunting, including coin shooting, relic hunting, gold panning,
nugget hunting, dry washing, beach combing, dowsing, and organized treasure hunts.
Meetings
Meetings are
held on the first Monday of each month (except holidays) at 42524 23rd. Street West in
Lancaster
and start at 7:00pm. Each meeting starts off with a short business session which
includes planning of future events, announcements and reports which is then often followed by a demonstration, discussion,
video or talk on equipment operation or treasure hunting technique. During the summer, meetings may be held at a local park,
starting at 6:00pm with a potluck dinner.
Meetings also
include:
-
Refreshments
-
A raffle with
numerous prizes.
-
An attendance
drawing for members present.
-
Find-of-the-month,
where members may bring in there finds for the past month and put them on display. A vote will be taken by the membership
for the best overall, most unique, and other classes of finds. Prizes are awarded to the winners. In addition, each entry
is awarded a silver dime.

Mining Claims

You can always find some nice color with a drywasher, but don't forget your favorite detector as several nice nuggets have
been found while swinging the detector.

seniors. Dues are $35.00 per year for renewing members. In addition, a onetime initiation fee of $25.00 is charged to new
