McLeod is neither an easy name to pronounce or to spell correctly. Nevertheless,
it is imperative that journalists spell (and broadcast "journalists" say) proper names correctly. Why? Take a look at this

When my uncle, a long-time policeman in my town, passed away some
years ago, you can imagine the disgust I felt when I opened the local paper to read the obituary. The family name is not only
spelled wrong throughout, it is spelled incorrectly a variety of ways.
This is not only an example of bad reporting, it's bad copy-editing,
too.
