Fountain Valley has been hailed as the first drive-in to incorporate illuminated live fountains as an idea in beautification and as an integral part of landscaping. The drive-in, which accommodates 2000 cars, is also the first to introduce a supervised children's playground, and the first to feature one of the biggest screens, measuring 90 feet high by 140 feet wide.
The snack-bar building, which features carpeting, offers a full quality menu of gourmet food, and is equipped to serve 5,000 patrons during a 15-minute break.
The Fountain's projection booth features the latest technological advances, with Simplex Projectors equipped to present all sizes from 35mm to Cinerama, beamed by strong electric Vent-Arc lamps. The sound, by Altec-Lansing, uses giant-size speakers. Automation through electronically controlled traffic control has made box office bottlenecks at the theatre entrance a thing of the past.
The Fountain Valley, representing an investment in excess of $1 million, is located at the foot of the Brookhurst Avenue off-ramp and the San Diego Freeway, 40 miles south of Los Angeles, in Orange County.
