Many thanks to Ed Saalig for the following information!

TheValley Drive-In had the largest painted mural (at one time) in the UnitedStates at 4,000 square feet. It was painted by Mr. Tyler. Still trying toget first name. It had 2,500 feet of running neon lights and was the first toshow movement. In 1949 the theater opened Monkey World, with live monkeys onthe grounds in cages. It was an attraction for kids before the movie started. In 1954, the screen was widened to show movies in cinemascope. At the time thescreen was the largest in the United States. The theater was eight storieshigh and housed many offices and a women's lounge. My research shows that itwas on a 30 acre lot with a vehicle capacity of 800 and outside seating foradditional 200. The theatre was painted in a forest green. The Drive-In wasclosed in 1980 and is currently a car lot with all building destroyed (on thecorner of Holt Blvd. and Central on Route 60).
