April 11 - So I've been really bad about updating my web site...I
apologize. I do have some news though. My cover band "Headbanger's Ball" has secured a residency every Friday
night at Sam's in Huntington Beach (16278 South Pacific Coast Hwy) starting on May 2nd. My band is:
Jeff Duncan of Armored Saint on guitar, Kevin Baldes of Lit on bass and Sean Katlan on vox. We'll be playing a lot of
fun rock - wear your denim and leather! We'll be playing at least until June 6th so come by and say hi and hang out!
Here's the link to Sam's web site. Jimmy D
Jan. 6 - Happy New Year to everyone. I hope you all had
safe holidays. I'm finally back to work after a bit of vacation time with my family. I'm starting the year off
running. Starting Friday, Feb. 8th (note new date), my band will be the house band at the House of Blues in Las Vegas
every Friday night. My band is: Kevin Baldes on bass, Jeff Duncan on guitar, and Andrew Freeman on vox.
We're calling ourselves Jukebox Heroes and we'll be playing a variety of rock classics from the 80's, 90's and current rock
tunes as well as some of our own songs from BulletBoys, Lit, and Armored Saint. If any of you are out in Vegas over
a weekend, come check us out - it's sure to be a fun time. We plan on booking some L.A. shows real soon too so I'll
keep you posted about that. The NAMM show is coming up in a couple of weekends too - I hope to see some of you there
as well. I'll be visiting with my drum companies and of course taking in some tips at the Digidesign booth. I'll
also be releasing an EP (at least) by the spring at the latest with songs I've done with Romero - you can hear some of them
on my Myspace. Check back soon. I'll be putting up pictures from Vegas and NAMM in the next coming weeks. Thanks!
Jimmy D
Nov. 19 -So my birthday bash was a blast. I want to thank
everyone who came to the gig. I especially want to thank my band: Jeff Duncan, Kevin Baldes, and Andrew Freeman.
I really appreciate you making this such a fun and rockin' night for me. I also want to thank A.J. and Jeremy Popoff
from Lit for coming and playing a few songs with me. I can't remember when I had such an amazing time playing music.
I'm happy to say, that the rest of the band had as good a time as I did and we've decided to do more shows. I'll keep
you posted on where we'll be playing soon. Check out pictures on my Myspace and look for some video clips on my Youtube page soon.
Oct. 27 - I'm
having my birthday bash at Paladino's on Friday, November 16th. Come out and see me play with my friends: Sean
McNabb (Quiet Riot, Great White) on bass, Kevin Baldes (Lit) on bass, Jeff Duncan (Armored Saint, DC4) on guitar and Andrew
Freeman (Lynch Mob) on vox. I'm inviting a lot of my friends to come and jam too. We'll be playing some covers
and you might here a few BulletBoys songs too. Come out and celebrate with me. Click and print the discount
flyer on this page.
August 29 - We finally got settled in the new house, and the studio had to have some upgrades and get defragged, so it's been
slow going for recording and mixing to say the least. I'm hoping to have some new songs up as soon as possible. The new singer
I've been working with, Romero, flies out in a few weeks, the new songs I've been writing are starting to come together. Somebody
recently wrote me asking why it takes so long for me to put more songs up ....well I write, record and play all the instruments
on my stuff, not because I've got control issues rather it's hard to get a bass player and engineer to come out durring the
week day (my weekends are family time). If you happen to know a bass player or engineer who'd be into coming out to
help be apart of this have them shoot me an e-mail. J
July 19 - Hey Everyone, we've moved and I'm finally up and running
on the internet. You don't know how detached I felt from the world without my internet. So Max's show at the Troubadour
was awesome. I can't tell you how proud I felt and how surreal it felt seeing my boy on stage at the Troubadour at 14.
I was 14 when I first played the Troubadour! My old friend and drum tech (from the BulletBoys days), Cooch, was
there to help Max and that made the whole night feel even crazier. He had a good turn out and played great. I'll
post some pictures up on my MySpace and I'm sure Max will post some video on his Myspace and on Youtube soon. I'm setting
up the studio and I'm tweaking it a bit to get it where I want it again. Romero will be coming out again next month
so we can get back to work, so I'm looking forward to that. Other than that, I'm enjoying the summer and swimming in
the pool. I'll check back soon. Jimmy D
July 11 - Max has a gig at the Troubadour this Sunday at 7:30pm.
I hope some of you will come check him out. the band he's playing with is called Sunglasses After Dark. Jimmy
D
June 22 - So I've been really bad at posting updates, I hope
you understand. Romero and I have come up with some really cool stuff and we should have a record done by the end of
summer. I'm still looking for a space for my studio so that has taken up some time. I'm glad that summer is here
now. My son is done with homeschooling for this year so now we can just hang and have a good time...BBQ, swim, and rehearse
this summer. I hope all the dads out there had a great Father's Day. I sure did. We started out with my
wife, sister-in-law and mom making me and my brother a great breakfast. Then the rest of the day was just resting, watching
movies, and relaxing with the family. I'm testing out some new drum heads for Aquarian right now. So far
they sound great. I'll give more details as I work my way through them. Jimmy D
May 7 - Hey everyone. So a lot has been going on since I last checked in. I'm working with this
great singer from Colorado named Romero - he's in a band named Drug Under. Romero has been flying out and we've been
recording in my studio. You can hear two of our songs on my Myspace. One is called Devil's Little Helper and the
other is The Sparrow. We've got more songs done and I hope with another trip or two, that we'll have a good record to
put out. Can't wait for you to hear more, but you're gonna have to. On the family front, I'm happy to announce
that my son has been accepted to a great performing arts high school next year and we're all very happy that he's going to
be able to get a good education and play music everyday. We're also hoping that at this school, he'll find some good
players for a band and life long friends. As always, I've been upgrading my studio. Right now I'm contemplating
going from the Digi 002 to the HD - it seems like now is the time. Anyway, I'd love to hear from ya. Jimmy D
March 26 - I know, it's been exactly a month since I last checked in. Well....I have been expanding
my studio more and more and I'm still looking for a place to move it into. I got a new Gibson guitar a Marshall cabinet
and Mesa Boogie half stack that I've been playing with. I'm just working on my guitar tone. I want to be able
to offer equipment rental to bands that come in to record so that I have everything dialed in. I'm also testing out
a bass amp to see which I want to purchase. Yes I am a gear head. For those of you haven't heard yet, I have a
new song up on my MySpace that I did with Jimmy Coup called Just Lucky - check it out. I have Romero from Drug Under
coming in to sing on some stuff. Other than that I'm totally into the movie '300,' watching new episodes of LOST and
I can't wait for Heroes to start up again next month. Looking foward to the Sopranos and Entourage starting their new
seasons too. See ya!
February 26 - Wow has it been almost a month since I've checked in? I suck. Well, I'm still putting
together specs for the studio. I'm happy to say that I've made some additional purchases so I have a lot to add to the
specs. I'm also actively looking for an outside space for my studio. I've outgrown my den. If anyone knows
of any small space where I can set up my studio let me know. I'm looking anywhere from Hollywood to Burbank to Downtown.
I want something small to start and then move on to something bigger. Other than that, I've been working with Jimmy
Coup on some new songs, and I've also been working with Olin/London 77. As a matter of fact, we just shot a video over
the weekend so I'll post that when it's done being edited. Talk soon. Jimmy D
January 31 - I've been working hard in the studio. I'll be starting a web site for it soon and I will
unveil its name once I get the specs together and photos in place. Hopefully I will have all of it done within a couple
of weeks. Check back. Jimmy D
January 21 - So NAMM was a lot of fun. I like to see all the new gear that is going to come out.
This year I spent a lot of time at the Digidesign booth getting tips for my studio. I learned a lot in an hour.
I also got to thank John at DW in person for the great new drum set. I meet with John and Garrison a few times a year,
but this is the first time I've seen them since getting the new kit. You can see pictures of it on my Myspace photos.
I can't wait to get it on stage. You can also check out my Endorsements page here on my web site to see photos I took
with John and Garrison at DW, Roy, Chris and Jamie at Aquarian and of course Marco from Vic Firth. They are all such
great companies to work with. I'll check back again soon. Jimmy D
January 6 - So I'm making some adjustments to my web site. I'm adding a Blog apart from this page.
One that's easier and quicker for me to just log in, write, and log out. The web site takes me a little more time.
You can still see my blog; it's in the links on this page. I'm still testing some stuff out so give me a chance to get
used to it. Anyway, this year I will also be adding a web site for my studio where I'm recording bands and producing
them. I'll also be adding another aspect now that the studio is in full force - I will be offering drum tracks to those
who would like to pay for my services. More details to come on that too. I'll be going to the NAMM show in a couple
of weeks so hopefully I'll see some of you there. I've been doing a lot of recording with Olin and you'll be hearing
that soon once it's mastered and packaged. Anyway, I've got the year off to a fast start and I'm happy about that -
life is great! Jimmy D
November 27 - Hey everyone. So I'm checking in. Lot's of cool stuff going on. I got a new
drum set from DW so I'm pretty excited about that. It's called Black Ice and it's new for 2007 - you'll be seeing it
in stores soon. I got a 26" kick drum which sounds like THUNDER! I love it. I can't wait to get on stage
with it. You can see a picture of it on my Myspace page. Well, Thanksgiving just passed. I had a GREAT one.
We had dinner at our house as usual. My wife made a delicious turkey. We shared the day with my immediate family
and it was very nice. We also took a little time out to just relax - we saw The Departed which was awesome. I
highly recommend it. We also took a little trip to Sedona to surprise my inlaws on their 50th wedding anniversary.
That was very nice. It was a short trip, but we spent a lot of good quality time together. I'll be producing a
band on my home studio so I'll have to send you links to the songs once we're done. It should be some time next week.
I promise I'll check back sooner than later. Jimmy D
October 30 - Hey All, So a lot of
people have been writing to me saying that they've seen ads for BulletBoys shows with my picture on them. Some people
have come up to me in person telling me that they have been told by Marq Torien that I am playing with BulletBoys. THIS
IS NOT TRUE. Marq is currently on the road by himself. I have been speaking with Mick and Lonnie regularly but
none of us has spoken to Marq in some time. Please let me know if you see any ads with my picture on it, or better yet,
email it to me. I'd love to see what's out there. Right now, neither me, Mick or Lonnie have plans to play with
Marq. Thanks.
October 14 - Hi, So a lot of you have been asking how
Max's show at the Cat Club went. Well, check out his web site www.maxdanda.com and go to the video page to see his drum solo. The band had a
great night and played a great show - and they made over $300! Another thing with Max (and me!) we met Joey Jordison
from Slipknot. Joey is one of our favorite drummers so it was cool meeting him. You can also see pictures of Max
and Joey on his web site home page. Other than that, I'm still working away on my drum tone in my studio. I need
to get a couple of more add-ons to make me happy so I will get those in another month or so. The BulletBoys publishing
catalog is reverting back to us so we are in the middle of doing a pub deal with a new publisher. It will be nice to
see our catalog get worked and hopefully you'll be hearing more of our old tunes because of this deal. This deal will
also help be build my studio even further. I'll be doing some shows with Olin in November so check my MySpace for more
info. And tomorrow night I'll be playing some Thin Lizzy stuff with Jimmy Coup at the Cat Club. Check back soon!
September 21 - Hey everyone...You all should know
about the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund. It was started by Carol Baldwin, mother of Alec, Daniel, William
and Stephen Baldwin. Visit the link to learn more about this great foundation. The reason I'm posting this is
because I've been asked to participate in one of their fundraising events called Weekend for a Cure which includes a motorcycle
rally, a live concert featuring JRAD, Rebel Soul and Deep South, and they are raffling off a Harley Davidson motorcycle signed
by celebrities including: the Baldwin brothers, Billy Joel, Dee Snider, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, several other celebrities
including myself. They are driving the bike across the country to get autographs and tonight the bike will be on the
Tonight Show where Jay Leno will add his autograph. I was honored to be asked to participate in this fund raiser and
I hope that you will all visit the site and purchase a raffle ticket to possibly win the Harley. The tickets are
1 ticket for $20 and 6 tickets for $100. The drawing will be held October 1st at 5:00pm so get your tickets online today.
Here's the link about the raffle. Thanks. Jimmy D
August 25 - Ok I lied. I said I would give updates
at least once a week and I haven't. There's just been so much going on. For starters, everyone go out and see
the movie Beerfest, they will be using "Hard As A Rock" in a scene where the characters are training for the beerfest.
Here's a link to the movie site. I've got a couple of gigs coming up in the L.A. area with Olin,
I will post that info. in the next day or so. I had a memorable experience at DW Artist day hanging w/some of my Drum
heroes Terry Bozzio, Jim Keltner, and John Wackerman, just to name a few and made some cool new friends. I was
conscious enough to snap a couple of shots of Terry playing via my cell phone, check out my photo blog. I've also been
asked to sumbit songs for a new documentary about kids training in ice hockey for the Olympics. I'll let you know more
about that as it unfolds. For those of you who have been asking me if the original BulletBoys line up is getting back
together for a reunion or currently doing shows - go here. For those of you who wanna have some fun, my son will be playing
at the Cat Club (next to the Whiskey) in Hollywood on Sunday, Sept. 3rd at 7:00pm sharp - this is an all ages show.
I'll be posting a flyer for this soon. Lastly, go to my MySpace to listen to a couple of new songs. See ya! Jimmy D
July 24 - Hot fun in the summer time is the theme so
far this summer. I know it's been awhile since I last checked in, but I'm doing some tracking in my studio. I've
been recoding some local bands so I can get the word out about my studio. I'll be putting up a web site for it soon
if anyone is interested in recording at my place; I'm almost ready. Of course I can also provide live drum tracks from
my studio for your own recording as well. My big focus has been on my drum sound and miking. I know a
lot of drummers use an electronic set or use some type of drum software program, but I'm doing all live drums. My old
friend and engineer Jeff Hendrickson came over to share some of his miking knowledge and reminded me about what we did on
those records we did for Warner Bros. I have an awesome room sound now that sounds a lot like Power Station. Who
doesn't love that sound? His son, Ian also came along and he's an up-and-coming drummer that you all should be on the
lookout for. He was in the band Rock Kills Kid. Here's a link to his MySpace. Other than that it's been all about spending time in the pool,
BBQing, and just hanging with the family. I'll be putting up the video from the Michael Douglas Golf Tournament soon.
I'll be updating this once a week I promise. I'll have new audio to put up soon too. See ya! Jimmy D
June 22 - I hope that all father's out there had a great
Father's Day...I know I did. I spent the whole weekend with the family and we had a really great time. Did any
of you catch the Michael Douglas charity golf tournament? We kicked off the show and it was pretty cool. I'll
be posting it up soon. I've spent the early part of this week hooking up with my drum companies. I visited with
Aquarian and DW Drums. Both very nice visits. The rest of this week will be spent just having fun with my boy.
Fun in the sun and on the drums! I'll be getting together with an old friend this weekend. I'll write about that
later. See ya! Jimmy D
June 6 - Okay. This Saturday (June 10th) at 1:00pm
PST on NBC you must be in front of your TV or at least Tivo this show. It's the "Michael Douglas & Friends" charity
golf tournament. I will be shown playing drums in the opening sequence (and throughout the program, I think).
We play the "Boys Are Back In Town" (yes, from Thin Lizzy), but the words are changed a bit so the song will actually be the
"Stars Are Back In Town." It was really fun to record and shoot so I hope it comes out that way. Other items of
note: I'm digging this weather. For those of you who do not live in L.A. we've been getting hot hot days!
Yes, I love sitting by the pool with the BBQ going - yeehaw! I'm digging my newest tattoo. I'll be posting
photos soon. I just got one of Wolverine (from the comic book) which is sick (in a good way). For good work, check
out Pat in my Top 8 (on MySpace). I'm digging my teenager. Max is graduating from middle school next week.
Can you believe it; I'll have a full blown high school teenager in the house! I'm really blessed...he's smarter
than I was at that age, he's a better drummer than I was at that age, and he's more respectful than I was at that age.
These next few years are sure to be really interesting. Check back soon! Jimmy D
May 17 - I know, no excuses, but I've been really
busy and haven't had a chance to give you an update. I'm totally enthralled with tracking right now. I'm almost
finished with a new song that I want to get up on MySpace really soon. Of course there was Mother's Day and me
and Max had a good time pampering my wife. Oh! I'll be getting some video up on Myspace too. I'm shooting
to tape this weekend so I can have video of me playing on the site so check back soon. The Michael Douglas golf tournament
will air June 10th on NBC and I will be playing in the opening segment. When I get more info. I'll let you know.
Check back soon...I promise. Jimmy D
May 3 - Today I am doing the audio and video
recording the for Michael Douglas golf event. We'll be playing "The Boys Are Back In Town" by Thin Lizzy with some new
lyrics. I'll let you know more information as I see how it's going to be used and when. Come check me out with
Olin tomorrow night at M-Bar. Go to Myspace for more info. See you then! Jimmy D
April 24 - Sedona Rocks! I just got back
from a week-long vacation in Arizona to see my inlaws. We had a great time! Sedona is very beautiful and peaceful
and just the opposite of Los Angeles. We went to this wild animal park called Out Of Africa and it was great.
We got to see lions and tigers and bears (oh my) up close. I even made direct eye contact with this huge white tiger
and it gave me the chills. I'll post some pictures up soon but the video is much better. We also took a walk up
to the Chapel of the Holy Cross. This chapel is built right in one of the Sedona rock formations. It's unbelieveable....and
the view from the top is amazing! Here's a link if you want to see what I'm talking about. Anyway, I'm back to
work and anxious to start creating again. I'm producing and playing (and writing) on a friends project in Oregon so
I'll be going up there again soon to do more work on that. I'm also doing some tracking for another project that is
still unnamed, but I'll let you know when that's available too. I've got a show with Olin on May 4th at M-Bar -
check out my myspace for more info. We just finished a great song called Slave To The
Rhythm and I'll post that up soon (but I think he's got it up on his myspace now). Check it out and write me and let me know what you think.
Of course I'll be hooking up with Jimmy Coup soon to continue working on our songs and I'll also be playing on a recording
with Jimmy for a golf event hosted by Michael Douglas. It's nice to be so busy. On another note, I just want
to say what a difference a monitor makes. We got a new computer for home, and it came with a 19" flat screen monitor.
I'm using it on my Mac with my ProTools set up and boy it's nice to really be able to see everything on a big screen.
Who knew there was such a big difference between a 17" and a 19"...don't even get me started on what a space saver a flat
screen is too! Anyway, I hope everyone else had a great spring break! I know I did. Jimmy D
April 5 - I can't believe it's been so long since
I've written an update. There has been a lot going on the last couple of weeks so bear with me. First, my son
had a big audition for a performing arts high school and that was the entire focus of the house. He feels pretty good
about his audition, but we won't find out if he got accepted for another month! You can check out a new video of Max
with his band at his web site maxdanda.com I'm very proud of him. He worked hard preparing for his
audition. Now, Jimmy Coup is staying here with us so we can work morning, noon and night on songs. We hope to
get them record ready real soon. I'll check back soon! I promise! Jimmy D
March 20 - So yes, I'm finally making my way
around the 002. The sound quality I'm getting from this thing is amazing! The funny thing though is what I'm most
excited about today is my new tattoo. I finally got a koi that I've been wanting. It sits just under my Bruce
Lee tattoo. There's a photo of it in my photo blog to the right of this column. I'll take some more pix too so
you can see it all the way around. I'll be getting a couple of more pieces too. My tattoo guy is thee best!
His name is Pat Bronowicki. I'll put up a link for him soon once he gets his page together. Jimmy Coup and I are
finishing up a couple of more songs so I'm happy about that. I'll try to check in more frequently, but as you know...you
can always hit me up on the email. Jimmy D
March 13 - Ok. I'm finally feeling more like
myself. I'm glad I am too, since I just bought the Pro Tools 002! I got some cool plug ins and I'm all over this
thing. I'm getting GREAT drum tone and I can't wait to retrack my stuff and record brand new songs. I'm having
my good friend and old engineer, Jeff Hendrickson come by and show me some mic strategy for my drums. I'll be able to
record drum tracks for anyone and send them out right from home. I also expect to finally release a record of my stuff.
I'm aiming for a summer release. I'll keep you informed on the progress. Also, for my fans from back-in-the-day...you
can catch an interview I did with Hairball John at http://www.hairballjohn.com/interviews.csp For those of you who have been writing and calling me...no I will
not be touring or recording with my old band on their "reunion" endeavors. I'm just focusing on my new stuff.
I wish them the best but I don't want anyone to expect to see me behind the kit. I'll check back soon. Jimmy D
March 6 - Sorry I'm sick. I'll write soon.
Jimmy D
February 10 - Jimmy Coup and I have been hitting
it hard this last week. We're just about to lay down vocals and then I'll post up our new songs. Olin and I did
some recording today as well and I'll be posting up a new song of ours in the next week. I plan on upgrading my Pro-Tools
this month so I'm excited about that. My drum sound is great now, but it should be even better once I get 8 inputs.
I'll keep everyone informed. don't forget to check out my Myspace. Jimmy D
January 31 - I'm happy to say that Jimmy Coup
and I are really cracking on our songs. I want to package them and make them available within the next couple of months
(if not sooner); then I want to schedule some gigs. But, putting together a solid 4 song demo for now is our focus.
We've got 2 of our songs being considered for a movie right now; if that turns into anything I'll be sure to let you know
more details. I'll be doing some more shows with Olin coming up next month, check back for dates soon. See you
soon! Jimmy D
January 24 - So the Raven's Heart benefit show
went great. I hope they raised a lot of money that night. I believe an auction is happening soon too because Happenin
Harry had us all sign a bunch of stuff for an auction. I ran into a few old friends which was cool. I talked to
Phil Varone for a bit and I'm hoping we'll hang soon. John Corabi was there and we've known each other for years.
We'll be getting together soon and you may even hear his voice on some of my tracks. I also hung out a bit with Sean
McNabb....sometimes I forget just what a great bass player he is. I loved playing with him in Lynch Mob - he made that
a great experience. I also hung out with Vinnie Paul from Pantera/Damageplan. I met Vinnie many years ago, but
it was cool getting to talk to him after the show and just hang for awhile. I'm also glad I was able to express my condolensces
to him in person. I went to NAMM on Friday and I took my wife and son on Saturday. I ran into lots of friends:
Rikki Rocket, Frankie Banali, Eric Singer, Bobby Blotzer, and more. I even ran into Bono in the hallway before he was
swamped by people. I got to jam again on Sunday night and hung out with Greg D'Angelo and Jeff Duncan. All
in all it was a great weekend. Got some work to do with Jimmy Coup and Olin this week. I'll keep you informed.
Jimmy D
January 19 - Hi, so I hope that some of you can
come out and support the Raven Foundation tonight. It should be a fun show and a good cause. Just to keep you
up-to-date, I've been doing some tracking with Olin and I hope I can get some music up on my site and Myspace soon.
It's pretty cool stuff. I'll be flying up to Oregon sometime in the next month to help complete an album for a band
I've been working with for a couple of years. Other than that I'm just getting ready for NAMM this weekend. Hope
to see some of you there. Jimmy D
January 10th - Hi, Ok this is my first real post
this new year. I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday. I am so ready to get back to work. I've been
cleaning up my whole work space as well as the entire house. We bought my son a 4-track studio for Christmas so I got
him set up in his bedroom with that and we also put his drum kit and guitars in there too so now he can write and record
everything in his room. Look here soon for his first EP...he's turning out to be quite a writer. For me, I've
got nearly all my drum kits set up in the den and I bought myself some great recording mikes for Christmas so I'll be doing
lots of tracking and re-recording. I'm also looking forward to going to the NAMM show next week, I hope to see some
of you there. I'll be playing more shows with Olin coming up soon which I'll post here and on MYSPACE. Jimmy Coup
and I are sure to get together soon to do some writing and recording. He's just getting back from Ireland for a Thin
Lizzy event they have over there. On a side note...we got Sirius satellite radio for ourselves for Christmas
and we love it! I highly recommend it for any rock lover out there. They've got a great channel called Hair Nation
which will make you feel like you're listening to KNAC back in the day as well as a bunch of other classic rock
stations. I also love old school rap and funk so I tune into their 70's stations which are cool. I haven't listened
to any CD's or "regular" radio since we got it. Of course, you gotta love Howard Stern too. Other than that
I'm just concentrating on writing and tracking. Luckily the commerical I did last year is being very good to us giving
me this free time to do what I want. Be good. Jimmy D
Dec. 12 - So I've been bad about updating my
site. I apologize. Jimmy Coup and I have been doing a lot of writing. I've been doing some tracking on my
home studio too. I had a bit of a cold for a few days last week which slowed me down....but I'm back to work now.
I'll be playing on a demo for a buddy of mine this week as well as playing some Thin Lizzy with Jimmy Coup on Wednesday night
(see above). Talk soon. Jimmy D
Nov. 29 - So I wanted to thank everyone who came
out to the show last Saturday night. It was a lot of fun. I will put up some photos and (hopefully) some video
soon. Olin and I will be scheduling more shows soon. I hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving....I know I
did. There's nothing like having your family over, having a wonderful meal by the fireplace and topping it off with
a nice piece of pumpkin pie! It was a very nice, relaxing, eventful weekend. Yesterday was my birthday, so I got
together with the family again for some cake. You might've figured out that I like celebrating with my family.
So I've got all of my drum kits out and giving them all a good cleaning today. That should keep me plenty busy these
next couple of days...but I love it. Jimmy D
Nov. 10 - I've just posted a show date with Olin
at the Hard Rock Cafe at 10pm. I hope to see some of you out there. It's our first show. Should be lots
of fun. Jimmy D
Nov. 4 - Ok, so I've been a little pre-occupied
with my Pro-Tools. I just got a new hard drive, more RAM, and I'm moving full force. Jimmy Coup has come down
to track some stuff...Olin has been down a couple of times. I'll post some new stuff soon. Went over to DW Drums
last week. I had another nice visit with John Good and Garrison. I love being around all of those drums...and
of course, John and Garrison are always great company. Be sure to check out MySpace too, I just added some new photo's
there. I'll check back soon. Jimmy D
Oct 22 - Sorry it's been awhile since my last post.
I've been recording at home and just really digging into my new Pro-Tools set up. I'm retracking a bunch of stuff and
I will have new recordings up soon on my MySpace account. I've also been busy writing and recording with Jimmy Coup
and with Olin. Everyone should check out my son's web site www.maxdanda.com - he's got great video of one of his drum solo's...you should take a
look. Love to hear from you. Jimmy D
Oct 11 - My commerical is up! This is me playing
drums and performing the audio. I'm dressed as the older asian actor. Don't be fooled though, it's really me.
You can tell mainly from the overhead and side shots. That's me kicking over the set as well. I hope everyone
had a nice 3-day weekend. I know I did. We spent most of the weekend celebrating my wife's birthday and our wedding
anniversary. Lot's of relaxing and eating! I also fit in some time to meet with a great engineer, Mike Jackson...this
is his MySpace url http://www.myspace.com/digimob123. He came by and gave me the "boot camp" lesson for Pro-Tools.
I also played a fun show with Jimmy Coup on Sunday night; just playing covers. So this week I'm full throttle on the
Pro-Tools and tracking! So I hope to have some new audio up soon. Jimmy D
Oct 3 - Ok, so I have to say that I'm pretty excited
right now. Over the weekend I bought Pro-Tools. I can't wait to get started making my own high quality demos and
demos/CD's for any band that wants my input. I've been messing around with the free version for awhile, but now I've
got a G4 and the real Pro-Tools...so I'm ready to go. Please also check my Myspace music site. I'm getting better
at figuring out codes and I plan on adding lots more stuff. Well, I'm off to redesigning my studio space at home.
I've got to do some re-arranging so that I can get the best tones possible. The commercial I did is due to air this
week in the UK and Ireland. I hope to have a link to it up soon! Keep checking back. Jimmy D
Sept 28 - Well, I have finally set up a music site at
My Space. You can click on the link above or my url is www.myspace.com/jimmydanda. Check it out. I've got some different audio up there too
and will be adding more. I've got work booked up with Jimmy Coup, Olin, and this girl singer all this week. And
of course I'm looking forward to seeing the new Lost tonight. Everyone be well. Jimmy D
Sept 23 - Sorry it's been awhile since my last update.
I've been doing some recording at home and I'm working with a new singer too. His name is Olin and he's got a cool rock
voice. We should be playing out and around soon. Me and Jimmy Coup are going to be doing some tracking in the
next week or so too. The weekend holds more rehearsals, but I'm spending all Saturday with the wife :) Jimmy D
Sept 14 - So I've been setting up some new things on
my studio at home. That's been keeping me busy. We've also done some upgrading to our home computer and the audio
system in my SUV. I like when I can finally take care of things that I've been putting off or been too busy to get to.
I'm hoping that I'll have a copy of the commercial soon. Stay tuned. Jimmy D
Sept 6 - Back to work and back to school. Jimmy
D
August 29 - Check out the pix from the commercial shoot
at my blog above. Jimmy D
August 26 - So I'm back in town. London was great,
shooting the commercial was great, working with Jonas was fantastic. I'll be posting some pictures up soon from my trip.
I'm trying to catch up on some sleep right now and I'll give more details soon. Jimmy D
August 22 - So I'm in London and so far things have been
great. I had rehearsal with Jonas yesterday and today I will do makeup and wig fitting. The whole commercial premise
is great. An older man will play drums and do really poorly then he eventually turns into a drum maniac...that's
where I come in. I guess you could say I'm a drum double. I'll double for an asian man and a south african man.
It sounds pretty funny. Anyway, it's pretty cloudy over here and we've had spurts of rain. The jetlag is difficult
to deal with and I'm doing my best to adjust to the time difference. Tomorrow and Wednesday are are scheduled shoot
days. Fortunately, I've had a lot of time to explore London on my own and I'm enjoying my work-trip. All
in all it's been a great experience, I just really miss my family. I've been checking in with them a couple
of times a day. I'll be posting pictures when I get back. Check back soon. Jimmy D
August 18 - BIG NEWS!!!! Well, I'm off to
London to film a commercial for Jameson. I auditioned about a month ago and just got the call today. Jonas Akerlund
will be directing. He directed the movie Spun as well as several videos from U2, Madonna and Smashing Pumpkins.
Needless to say I'm pretty excited, especially after hearing that the competition was fierce. I should be back home
in about a week and I'll give you more details then. Jimmy D
August 8 - It sure is great getting back to work.
I've been playing everyday these last few days - actually I've been doing nothing but playing all day. I'm hoping that
I'll get back to answering some of my email - sorry about that folks. Keep checking back, I'll be updating more regularly
now. Jimmy D
August 4 - Well, Dayjams is winding down now. Tomorrow
is our last day. As much as I've enjoyed working with the kids and the staff, I'm looking forward to getting back to
my music. Jimmy Coup and I are going to be working on our songs again and re-tracking. I just got a V-Drum kit
and I'm looking forward to tracking my demos with it too. The recording I did with John Avila is being mixed right now
and hopefully I can post some of that up soon. As well, my son has one more month of summer so I'm planning on just
having some fun with him now that we're done with work. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. Jimmy D
July 27 - Ahh, I thought it was about time I check in.
Dayjams has been great. We have a great bunch of kids this year and I know I'm going to be seeing some of these kids
on MTV in about 10 years. It looks like I'm going to have a full weekend too! Nothing like keeping busy.
Jimmy Coup and I will be participating in Happenin' Harry's birthday bash this Sunday at the Cat Club. We're just going
to be doing some Thin Lizzy stuff...having a good time. I'll write back soon. Jimmy D
July 13 - So I've been at Dayjams the last few days and
it's been a ball. It's so cool seeing these young rockers. I'll be posting some photo's soon. This week
is especially fun for me since my son is working there as well and helping out the other kids and the staff. Jimmy Coup
is teaching as well, so we get together when we can throughout the day and go over songs and plans. We are going to
be going into a big studio to retrack some of the "home made" demos we've done so far. I'll put those up on the site
once we're happy with them. I've also got some video of my son doing a drum solo at our 4th of July BBQ that I want
to put up on the site. I'm looking for a good way to stream the video rather than making it downloadable - if anyone
has any advice let me know. Check back soon. Jimmy D
July 8 - So I made some behind the scene changes
to my site and luckily it didn't disrupt anything. I like when things work out the way they're supposed to. Anyway,
I hope everyone had a great 4th. We had a big BBQ with a jam session, lots of swimming and of course fireworks.
Jimmy Coup came down and jammed with me and my son. My son played all afternoon on both drums and guitar. We had
a great time...oh did I mention the food? It's great getting together with lots of friends and family to have a great
time and enjoy a perfect summer day. I'll be starting Dayjams next week and I'm really looking forward to that.
It looks like we've got a sold out camp this year! I'll be in touch soon, and maybe I'll post some photos and video
from our 4th party. Jimmy D
June 28 - Hi everyone. I'm checking in...I've been
writing and recording with Jimmy Coup. I'll be in the studio this weekend with John Avila. I'm helping to get
Dayjams up and running in a couple of weeks. I'm excited about working with some young rockers again. I should
also mention that I'm having some technical changes done to my web site within the next week; so my site will most likely
be down for up to one week. But it's only temporary. I hope you'll be patient with me. Jimmy D
June 20 - I hope all of the Fathers out there had a great
Father's Day. I know I did. I relaxed and was able to share the day with my family. A perfect day is BBQ
and family. My son is out of school now for summer, so we've kind of started it out with a bang with another visit to
Disneyland, we saw the new Batman movie (which we enjoyed), and then fun in the sun. Gotta get back to work now and
finish up some songs I'm submitting for a major female artist (I'll tell you more about that when it's done). I'm starting
to book some shows with the band that me and Jimmy Coup have so I'll post those as soon as I get confirmations. My son
has a gig this weekend so I'll be rehearsing with him too. Gotta make sure I get as much done as I can now, since I'll
be starting at Dayjams in July. Jimmy D
June 13 - So in my blog are (or will be) pictures from
my recent trip to DW Drums. Boy, what a place. I could really stay there all day talking about drums with John
Good. DW truly has the most phenomenal sounding and looking drums. Some people want to lay on a bed full of $100
bills; I want to sit in a room full of DW drums. Jimmy D
June 6 - Rehearsal with John Avila went great (check
my blog for photos). We should get to recording this month. The Mars Volta show was quite an experience.
I love seeing guys making the music they want to make. What great players. Jimmy and I are tracking tonight so
I'm looking forward to getting more master-quality stuff to you soon. The photo I have up right now is of one of my
best students, Izzy. She's a great dummer and definitely has a gift. See you soon. Jimmy D
June 2 - Ok, I'm still trying to get back into work-mode
after having a fun-filled Memorial Day weekend with my family. We had a Star Wars marathon and that was a lot of fun.
Or should I say: a lot of fun, it was....in my Yoda voice. Lot's of writing going on. Rehearsing tonight with
John Avila and I'm looking forward to that. A busy weekend is ahead too with me going to see one of my students in a
play and I'm going to check out my friend John Aldrete in the Mars Volta on Saturday. I'll be teaching at Dayjams this
summer in Beverly Hills, so if any of you have kids, cousins, nieces or nephews who play rock music...they should check it
out. Here's the web site: www.dayjams.com Jimmy D
May 24 - It's been a great last few days. Got some
good work done with Jimmy Coup; spent some fun time in the sun with the family. It's good to have that balance in life.
My son is just about finished with his 7th grade year and looking forward to summer around the pool. Jimmy D
May 18 - Ok, I've been real busy but I'll catch everyone
up today. First, me and Jimmy Coup have been writing and recording demos of everything we've been working on.
I'm really excited about this stuff and can't wait until we can record it for a record. He's been coming over here,
I've been going over there....needless to say we've both been putting some miles on our cars. Second, I've been in rehearsals
with this girl singer, Liz D, I've mentioned before. We had a meeting with our producer, John Avila (Oingo Boingo).
He should be great to work with and I'm enthusiastic about getting in the studio with him. Finally, I've been doing
some writing and jamming with an old guitar player of mine, Paul, from I band I used to be in. We'll see what happens
with that. What's happening this weekend???? A little movie called Star Wars with the family. Ok, that's
it for now. Jimmy D.
May 9 - So we had a great show on Friday night.
It was a lot of fun. I was happy to meet some new friends who have contacted me here at my web site. It's always
great to put faces with names. We plan on booking some more shows in the Hollywood area real soon. The weekend
was pretty relaxing. I spent a lot of time with my wife and we had a great meal out at one of our favorite restaurants
on Sunday for Mother's Day. Now it's back to work. I've been doing some tracking at home and Jimmy Coup and I
are trying to get our schedules together. Get back at you soon. Jimmy D
May 4 - Sorry, it's been awhile since I've given an update.
I was sick and then I went out of town to record an EP for a friend. I just flew in last night. It was a good
trip and everything turned out great. I'll give more info once it's all done if any of you are interested in hearing
it. Now, I'm preparing for the gig on Friday. I hope you guys can come out and check us out. There is a
$2 off flyer if you click above. After that, I'll be recording with a girl singer on Saturday, then it's all about Mother's
Day. I'll be spending time with the wife and my mom. Check back soon! Jimmy D
April 27 - I hate being sick.
April 21 - So I've been doing a lot of tracking at home
and sending it over to Jimmy Coup so he can do his thing on it. I'm really excited about the new stuff we're working
on....good time rock n' roll. I'll be rehearsing with Geto Envy this weekend and I'll be posting a $2-off flyer soon
for our show coming up on May 6th at Paladino's. Hope some of you can come out and hang. See you soon. Jimmy
D
April 18 - Well, I had a great weekend. On Saturday
night I got together with some old friends....you could say it was my high school reunion. My friends were all from
the BBoys days, my guitar player Mick was there, my drum tech Cooch was there and our great engineer, Jeff Hendrickson was
there too. We all had a great time sharing stories and memories. We've all promised to get together soon.
It was really great seeing everyone again, they are all like my family to me - dysfunctional of course, but still my family.
I think it's good for us to keep in touch so we can remind each other about the good times we had, and not just the bad times
which are always so easy to recall. Check out the photos from that night by clicking on here, or on the page link above for BBoy Reunion Photos. Jimmy D
April 11 - So it was a very busy weekend. Slipknot
in San Diego on Friday - what a great show! One of the best I've seen of theirs. I have to thank Matt for hooking
me and my family up for the night. You can see the photo I took of Joey's drum solo in my blog. Saturday night
was spent at a great barmitzfa for one of my former students and friend of my son. Max and Jonah jammed out a little
AC/DC with me on bass. It was a special evening. Then Sunday I had rehearsal with Geto Envy. The show coming
up next month should be a blast. Doing some tracking at home today and will get together with Jimmy Coup on Wednesday.
I have a reunion coming up on Saturday with some old friends of mine from the Bullet days. I'll have to tell you
all about it on Sunday. I'll be sure to take lots of photos. Jimmy D
April 4 - Well after having much fun this week with my
son for Spring Break it's back to work. Jimmy Coup came over yesterday and we worked on some songs. We're going
to be putting a demo together real soon so everyone can hear what we've been doing. I've also got plans to work on a
demo with Geto Envy. We have a show coming up next month at Paladinos in Tarzana on May 6 with Richie Kotzen.
I'll be posting more on that when it's closer to the date. I would also like to express my condolences to the family
and friends of Barry Stern from the band Trouble. I saw Trouble a few times back in the day and Barry was such a nice,
friendly guy and a very enthusiastic drummer....I dug the sunglasses on stage. He will be remembered. Jimmy D
March 29 - Dontcha just love Spring Break.
March 22 - Sorry it's been so long since I've last checked
in. I went over to visit with John Good and Garrison over at DW. I can't tell you what it feels like to talk to
someone like John about drums. I could do it all day long. DW has the most beautiful drums and hardware.
He gave me the new 9000 pedal and it is unbelievable! I also went to Sedona, Arizona for a few days to visit some family.
I highly recommend taking the Hummer Tour if you ever visit....it's a blast. My lessons have been in full force!
I'm almost near completion on the work I've done with one of my students and he should have a finished EP by end of the week.
I've also started writing with this girl singer and I will be playing drums on her recording in a couple of weeks. More
on that soon. My son starts spring break next week so no doubt we will be hitting Disneyland too. Check in with
you all soon! Jimmy D
March 7 - Busy, busy, busy - that's been the theme of
the week. I've had several drum students, I've had my overall writing/band student, I've had rehearsals with Geto Envy,
and tomorrow I'm getting together with Jimmy Coup to do some more writing. On Wednesday I'll be making a visit over
to DW Drums just to check in and see what new inventions they have going on. It's always such a pleasure to visit with
John Good and Garrison. Talk soon. Jimmy D
February 24 - Well...everything is moving right along.
My drum students are doing well. The band with Jimmy Coup is moving forward and rockin! My son did great at his
Battle Of The Bands last week. I will have a link to his web site soon so everyone can see the video - I'm very proud.
I've got some Geto Envy rehearsals coming up soon and we plan on booking a show in the next month or so. Lot's going
on as usual. See you soon! Jimmy D
February 17 - Hey everyone. Whew another busy week.
Jimmy Coup and I got together to do some writing earlier in the week and the rest of the time I've been teaching. I've
got one great new student who I'm helping put his gear together, I'll be teaching him guitar, drums, bass, songwriting and
recording - can't wait to get to it. My son's first Battle Of The Bands is tomorrow night! He'll be doing a drum
solo and playing some Ramone's tunes; you better believe I'll be filming it all. Most of the rest of this weekend will
be devoted to taking it easy. See ya!
February 11 - Ok...I had another great night with Jimmy
Coup and the guys. We've got so many ideas that we're working with I don't know where to start. I promise, I'll
have audio up soon. It's been a pretty busy week; I've been giving lots of drum lessons. It's great seeing new
up-and-coming drummers. I'll be working hard with my son this weekend helping him get his band ready for his first Battle
Of The Bands. And then of course there's Valentines day on Monday - I'll be with the wife :) Jimmy D
February 4 - So Jimmy Coup and I jammed with a couple
of friends of ours the other night and it felt great! I'm really excited about this new band. We're getting together
again next week and we already have plans to track some of the stuff we worked on. I'll give you more details once we
really solidify this thing...but I can't wait for you all to hear it. It all came together so easily and it feels so
right. The plan right now is to write great songs and record them, then we'll go from there. More details to come!
Jimmy D
January 27 - Jimmy Coup and I have been working on songs
at my house this week. We hope to record them very soon so we can share them with all of you. We also plan on
booking a lot of local/regional shows once we get enough completed songs. I've also been helping out my old bass player,
Lonnie Vencent, with a new project he's putting together of original stuff. We'll see what happens with that.
Don't forget to sign my Guest Book - I lost a lot of signatures when Verizon went down so please sign it again if your entry
was lost. See you soon. Jimmy D
January 23 - So I've been at the NAMM show the last 2
days. Had a lot of fun and ran in to a lot of good friends. Check out my photo's from NAMM here. See you all real soon! Jimmy D
January 20 - My apologies to everyone. Verizon,
who handles my web site, had some type of technical problem and has lost all of my data from Dec. 7th to now. So this
is why you see a large gap in time in my updates. Tonight Jimmy Coup and I are playing a benefit gig for www.ravensheart.org at the Hard Rock Cafe in Beverly Hills. I was just recently notified
that the tickets are going to be $50. Jimmy and I will be booking some full shows real soon of covers and of original
stuff. Also, the NAMM show starts today. I hope I see some of you there. I plan on going Friday and
Saturday. Thanks Jimmy D.
November 30 - I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving...I
know I did. It was great having family and friends over for Thanksgiving dinner. Oh, the smell of a nice juicy
turkey and the sound of our crackling fire place...OK, now, back to work. Check out a couple of new tracks on my
audio page. One is a new song that I wrote with Jimmy Coup and the other is a song I wrote with a band I used to be
in - this girl has got a great voice, you gotta hear it. I'm going to try to get as much work done before the Christmas
break. Talk to you soon. Jimmy D
November 22 - To everyone who is traveling over the holiday...be
safe and have a great Thanksgiving. Jimmy D
November 9 - So I've been doing a lot of tracking at
home. Trying to get some cool tracks for Jimmy C to work on. Staying on top of the private drum lessons I'm giving.
Also trying to fight off a cold, I won't let it get the best of me. Thanks to those who have signed my Guest Book -
I love hearing from you. Jimmy D
November 1 - Well Jimmy Coup and I are making some changes
to our second song. It sounds great - can't wait for you all to hear it. I've also been doing some recording of
my own at home, I'll be putting some clips up soon. Other than that, we had a quiet Halloween. I'll write back
soon. Jimmy D
October 14 - If you haven't noticed, I've had a lot of
changes done to my site. I now have a Guest Book and I hope that you will sign it. I'd love to hear from you.
I also have a link to my Blog. I plan on adding photo's and video's regularly. Jimmy Coup and I are still working
hard. We've re-tracked Fuel Heart at a great studio with the help of our friend Dorian - can't thank you enough Dorian.
We're working on "song 2" now for an upcoming BMX movie. Jimmy D
October 5 - So I'd like for everyone to go to my Audio
page and check out a couple of tunes I've been working on with Jimmy Coup and my new guitar player friend, Jason. Email
me with any feedback. Thanks, Jimmy D
September 29 - Jimmy Coup is gonna be coming over to
the house to do some writing and recording tomorrow....I can't wait. The stuff we've written so far is sounding great.
I'm hoping to get some audio up on this site soon so you all can listen. Check out my "About Jimmy" page. I'll
be getting a bio up there soon, but for now you can check out some links to see some of the music videos I've done.
See you soon.
September 15 - I've been doing a lot of work helping
out my good friend Jayson Won who plays drums for the Boo Ya Tribe. He has a show coming up this weekend in Santa
Barbara with another one of his bands called Tomatohead. You can hear Tomatohead on iTunes - check em out. Jimmy
August 19 - Not too much work going on this week since
it's my son's birthday. Jimmy Coup and I plan on hitting it hard come next week and get back to work. I also have
a show coming up on August 28th with my other band, Geto Envy. Check out my news section for a link to an interview
I did for DW Drums. It's a Metal/Rock Drummer Roundtable and they interviewed me, Tommy Lee, Simon Wright and Fred Coury
just to name a few. Check back soon! Jimmy D
August 13 - So me and Jimmy Coup played our first show
together at the Cat Club doing some Thin Lizzy covers. I had a lot of fun. Things haven't been this good in years.
Jimmy and I are working together solid for the last 2 weeks of August and I hope we can get something up on the site for everyone
to hear real soon. We're writing for a movie right now so that's pretty exciting. I'll be sure to keep you posted
on what happens with that. Jimmy D
August 2 - I've been VERY busy lately and I have a lot
going on. Check out the Band News section for my upcoming shows and bands. One new collaboration I'm really excited
about is working with my new friend Jimmy Coup from Andrew WK. Jimmy is just the coolest guy and we plan on making a
lot of music together. Thanks, Jimmy D
