PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

Mr. Walker has over 25 years of computer systems development and integration experience.  He has worked in all areas of software development and LAN implementation. Including all aspects of the system development life cycle.

As an Information Systems Architect, Mr. Walker is instrumental in the deployment and day-to-day operations of the LEADER Project Management Office LAN.  Mr. Walker developed and implemented the local Hardware and Software configuration office to implement the LEADER project’s 150 servers, 11,140 workstations, 2,000 printers, and 250 Laptop computers.  Mr. Walker designed and developed the installation procedures for the Servers, printers, workstations, and laptop computers at the LEADER local office sites.

Mr. Walker manages the LEADER LAN Support Group responsible for all Server, Desktop and Laptop support for the LEADER Project Management Office.  This team is also responsible for remote support of all 100 LEADER Site LANs and Servers.  When necessary the LAN Support Group will perform direct site support by going to the remote sites.

Mr. Walker has lead many project teams for various projects during his career.  The largest project Mr. Walker led was the implementation of the Wherehouse Entertainment, Inc. WAN upgrade.  This upgrade encompassed the replacement of 350 PERTEC computers with HP E-class UNIX servers.  Over 4,000 terminals were attached to these servers.  Mr. Walker led the Project as a Project Engineer and on-site project manager.  He was responsible for leading the software development team, the configuration team, and the implementation team.  This project was delivered on time and under budget.

As a Systems Testing and Quality Assurance Manager, Mr. Walker developed test scenarios that fully tested all application software from a “white box” point of view.  Mr. Walker’s technical experience as a programmer gained him acceptance with the software teams.  This experience also benefited Mr. Walker’s test team in allowing them to check for common programming errors.  Trouble reports were detailed and reproducible resulting in faster, more accurate corrections to software bugs.  The NYC583 release for Citicorp was given recognition as the release with the fewest reported bugs.  Mr. Walker was the project leader for the NYC583 release and worked closely with both the software development and quality assurance teams.  This NYC583 release was also delivered to the field in 12 months rather than the typical 18 months for a major release.  This required Mr. Walker to work with the development and testing teams to implement “shortcuts” to the development process that resulted in higher quality in spite of the shortened release cycle.

As a systems analyst, Mr. Walker does thorough research.  A typical example is the Credit Bureau project with Avco Financial Services.  Mr. Walker interviewed end users, Credit Bureau employees, Avco Financial Services Branch Managers, Auditors, and Corporate management for their requirements.  He translated these requirements into a systems design that included financial analysis.  The identified cost savings of $200,000 annually, and the time savings of 20 minutes of manual processing for each of the 25,000 credit applications processed by Avco each year, made this a high priority project.  The cost of the project was $100,000 giving a 6-month payback period.  Due to the high priority assigned to the project, Mr. Walker not only worked very closely with the programmers, but also led the System Testing team in the final quality assurance testing of the product.  The implementation of this Credit Bureau Reporting subsystem resulted in only one service request being generated by the field.  This release had the fewest reported errors for any release the International Field Systems Department of Avco Financial Services had implemented up to that time.
