What is the frequency (as in Hertz) of various notes?

We all have heard of “low pitch” meaning that the saxophone is tuned to A=440.  But what does that mean?  Well specifically, it means that the note “A” has a frequency of 440 Hz.  The instrument is designed with tuning based upon this note at this frequency.  “High pitch” instruments are tuned with "A" having a frequency of 445 Hz or even 448 Hz.  While this high pitch is used for tuning of some European orchestras, it is generally not used in Bands.  The following is a table of frequencies for the “normal” human hearing range.  It is based upon the basic frequency of "A" equals 440 Hz.  Bold numbers are notes on a piano.  The lowest piano note is A=27.5 Hz, the highest is C=4,186 Hz.  The “normal” human hearing range is 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz
