Wurlitzer (Conn Stencil) 1922 Silver-Plated C Soprano
Saxophone
I bought this saxophone in April of 2001. It is silver-plated and came with a custom made mouthpiece. It plays well and is VERY LOUD! During one band rehearsal, I drowned out two flutes, two clarinets, two alto saxophones, and two tenor saxophones! I was not satisfied with the mouthpiece it came with, so I bought a Selmer Paris D mouthpiece and a Rovner Dark ligature. I team these up with Van Doren Jazz #3 Reeds. This setup really cooks and plays in tune from Bb0 to Eb3 (the highest note on this saxophone). Of course, Eb3 on a C Soprano is the same as G3 on a Bb Soprano. I have not ventured into the altissimo register on this saxophone, so I cannot tell how it will perform up there. |
