Here is the information you need to know for the quiz. Also, you may be asking "How do I register my teen for the quiz?" That's a good question with an easy answer. Tell me(Mrs. Redshaw) whether or not you will be able to attend. I will register our teams when I hear from everyone.

Our next quiz will be this next Saturday, March 1st in McMinnville. Please let me know as soon as possible whether or not your teen will be able to attend. We will be meeting in the HNC church parking lot at 7:15am Saturday, March 1st and we will take the teens home between 4:00 and 5:00pm.

Each Teen needs to bring:
$5 for the quiz
$5 for lunch or a sack lunch
Quiz Shirt
Good attitude

The quiz will be over all of Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and Philemon. This is the last quiz for memory trophies or question writing. Please arrange a time to quote your memory before Saturday morning.

That's how you need to memorize-just a little bit at a time. Judy is going to be at practice tomorrow night to start listening to memory. I hope that you have been practicing.
Wednesday night practice should be fun with games and crazy stuff. I hope you can all make it.
Sunday morning I will be out of town so Jon-Mark and his dad will be in charge of quiz practice. Be extra nice to them.

During practice Wednesday night we worked on putting to death whatever belongs to your earthly nature,and for one reason or another we weren't very successful. But isn't that only too true in our lives? When we try on our own power(match) instead of using God's power(flame thrower)we fail every time. The other problem we have sometimes is that we really don't want to get rid of the earthly nature. We've become accustomed to it. It's familiar to us. Just as some of you wanted to keep your pictures and not destroy them, some of us want to keep parts of our "old self with its practices". But Colossians chapter 3 tells us that we have to put off the old and put on the new "because your life is now hidden with Christ in God". So have you "taken off the old self with its practices and put on the new self which is being renewed in the knowledge and image of the creator"? If not, why not? Do it today.

All five of the members of the Pro Team and the two members of the novice team who quizzed out need to let me know what kind of pop they want because I owe you a 2 liter.

This is a reminder that the March quiz is your last chance to earn either a required or master memory trophy. If you have memorized verses you need to arrange a time to quote them to Judy or one of the other coaches. Starting Wednesday, February 13th Judy will be available to listen to you quote memory for the March quiz.
Also, I know that there are several quizzers who are only one chapter short of memorizing an entire book of the Bible. That's incredible! Every teen who succeeds in memorizing a book of this year's material (other than Philemon, sorry)will receive the Christian music CD of their choice. I'm also giving a CD to those who memorize all of the required memory (about 100 verses)- so get memorizing.

Finally, after 8+ years of thinking about it, I have a quizzing website for HNC. This website is definitely a work in progress so let me know how I can make it better.

We had a great time at the Wa/Pac vs Or/Pac quiz. I know that a 7th place showing for our pro team doesn't look good on paper, but we didn't lose to a Nazarene team from our region. That means if we study hard we have a good chance of finishing in the top three at Regionals-maybe even 1st place.

As for the novice team- you did great! Three team quizzing is tough. At least three of our quizzes were decided by a 21st sudden death tie breaker question and you kept a good attitude throughout the whole quiz- all 13 rounds.
