North Seattle Shotokan Karate Dojo is affiliated with
Shotokan
Karate of America (SKA), a non-profit organization teaching
traditional Karate-do in the United States since 1955.

The mission of Shotokan Karate of America, as established by Shihan, Tsutomu Ohshima, is to “preserve, perpetuate, and advance
the legacy of Shotokan Karate for the betterment of the lives of
those who train, and to contribute positively to human history.”
Beginners are always welcome to North Seattle Shotokan.
Regardless of age, sex, or current physical condition, you can begin
karate practice and enjoy it.

SKA Membership: National
membership in SKA is $50 for new members; $75 per year for renewal
each January ($25 discount if initial registration is after July 1).

NORTH SEATTLE SHOTOKAN
INSTRUCTORS:
Nihad Khalaf, 4th degree black belt, co-founded and
heads the North Seattle Shotokan Dojo. Nihad began karate practice
in 1978 at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. He moved
to Seattle in 1980. Nihad has been teaching karate for over 24
years.
Joel Blakely, 3rd degree black belt.
Joel began karate practice
in 1991 at North Seattle Shotokan. Joel practiced with several
SKA affiliated dojos in Europe and Canada.
Richard Dermer, 2nd degree black belt. Richard began
karate
practice in 1977 at Caltech. Rich practiced with several SKA
affiliated dojos in the US and Europe. Rich moved to Seattle in
1996.
Anne Paxton, 2nd degree
black belt. Anne began karate practice in1998 at North Seattle
Shotokan Club.
