Native Sons

Our Annual Crab Feed will be held at St. Rita's Hall on Saturday, February 7, 2009. The menu includes our usual array of fantastic appetizers (smoked salmon, prawns, seafood dips, etc.) and salad, French bread and all the crab you can eat. We had to raise the price this year, but know you'll agree that $35 is OK considering what we serve-no other crab feed we know of begins with appetizers like ours! This event always sells out early-if you want to attend, be sure and send a check for $35 per person to Tony Starelli at 137 Gregory, Fairfax 94930 or contact him ai 456-1867. On Saturday February 21, 2009, at 7:00pm, the IDESST will hold an all-you-can-eat crab & pasta dinner at The Portuguese Brotherhood Hall at 511 Caledonia Street in Sausalito.

IDESST is an acronym for the "Irmandade Do Dovino Espirito Santo E Da Santissma Trinidade," which translates from Portuguese as "the Brotherhood of the Holy Ghost and Blessed Trinity". The IDESST was formed in 1888 by Portuguese immigrants, and the recently beautifully remodeled IDESST Brotherhood Hall located at 511 Caledonia in Sausalito continues to be the center of the Portuguese community in southern Marin County.

By opening its doors for the crab feed to the public, the IDESST asks the local community to join it in celebrating over 120 years as an active cultural organization, preserving the Portuguese heritage of Southern Marin.

Crab Feed fund raiser in Ignacio for Novato High School.

Mike Shumann, former San Franciso 49ers receiver and sports anchor for ABC7 TV will emcee the live auction.  There will be a silent auction and raffle prizes in addition to all you can eat crab, pasta, salad and dessert.

Tickets are $45 and can be purchased at the school office at 625 Arthur St., Novato.
