For the next two days, follow the same news story on a particular TV news program (the six o-clock news, for example) and in a major newspaper.  Answer the following questions (remember to cut and paste in the corresponding etudes assignment response box).
 
1.  Which TV news program did you choose?
 
2.  Which newspaper did you choose?
 
3.  What news story did you choose?
 
Now compare the two coverages:
 
4.  Was one medium better than the other in its coverage?  Which one?  Why?
 
5.  What were the similarities and differences between the two?  Was one more in depth than the other?  Did one provide more information, more pictures, or more sensationalism?
 
6.  What about your use of the two media?  Which way would you prefer to get your news?  Why?
