Situation:
Like
peanut butter and jelly, or sailors and sheep, some things just go together. The
fact that Marines and beer fit together so well is probably no coincidence since the Corps was founded in a bar. Since that first recruiting drive in Tun Tavern back on November 10, 1775, Marines worldwide have paused
each year to gather and raise their glasses to toast the birthday of the Corps. On
November 15th, Quantico's own hash will do their part to honor the heritage of the Marine Corps on the occasion of their 234th
birthday. Tired of running around Rosslyn and the Iwo Jima monument each November? Come join OTH's crew of half-mind Marine hares as they lead the pack on a devious
trail set in the same training areas that generations of Marines have learned basic combat skills in.
Mission:
At
1400 (or 2 pm, for non-military or Air Force) on Sunday, 15 November, OTH4 will conduct a hash aboard Camp Barrett at Marine
Corps Base, Quantico, in order to celebrate the Marine Corps' 234th birthday.
Execution:
-
Concept of Operations: NLT 1400, the pack will gather, with hares away around
1400ish. The pack will then attempt to follow the hares' devious efforts to lay
Marine (Eagle), Navy (Turkey), and Air Force (Walker) trails, pausing for beer, shots, and push-ups along the way. At the end of the trail, the pack will gather to bitch and moan, and drink more, per OTH4 Standard Operating
Procedures.
