Ministry of Presence

Have you ever wondered what you, as one person, can do about homelessness?  One thing we each can do is to treat those who are homeless with compassion, honoring that they too are human beings.  I work with the Church of Mary Magdalene and Mary's Place, a church and day shelter for women who are homeless or formerly homeless.  We have started a program to be present to homeless women who are in the hospital or jail.  We need women who are interested in volunteering to be visitors to those in the hospital; to be pen pals with women in jail; to be mentors when women are released from jail.  Caring presence can help to break the cycle of homelessness.  I'm available to speak to groups or individuals about this program.
