The Bishop and his Seminarians

This picture is on the cover of the 1-14-07 issue of the Today's Catholic.  All registered Catholic families in the Diocese received a copy of this issue.  The article that accompanied the picture titled "Diocese and parishes place emphasis on vocations during jubilee year" is a must read for all Serrans.  The artlicle is available on line at the following web site:

Ft. Wayne Serra Club was formed over 50 years ago to foster and affirm vocations to the priesthood and vowed religious life.  Our activities are focused on the eastern side of the Diocese of Ft. Wayne South Bend.  The club is a member of Serra International, an organization named for Bl. Junipero Serra.

Bl. Junipero Serra (1713-1784), Franciscan padre and founder of the Mission system that anchored Spain’s colonization of California, was born Miguel Jose Serra in Petra on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca, the son of peasant farmers.  He was beatified by Pope John Paul II in September 1988.
