As most of you know, Spring Into Motion has boasted some amazing competition teams over the years that have won
some of the highest awards possible at local and regional competitions. This
year, we are going to take our competitive teams to a new level by introducing new Company age levels.
What is a Company?
A company is simply a group of dancers that will work together as a team throughout the entire dance season to
perfect their forms of dance. Dancers that are part of a company will replace
their regular dance classes with company classes. Dancers will no longer be required
to take regular classes in addition to their competition classes. We will offer
PreCompany, Junior Company, Teen Companies and Senior Companies. The Teen and
Senior companies will have two divisions – one division will be Jazz/Ballet and the other division will be Hip Hop/Tap. The Junior Company is a Jazz and Tap Company.
PreCompany will hold one 45 minute class per week. Junior Company
will hold two classes each week that are each one hour in length. One night will
focus on Jazz and the other night will be Tap. The Teen and Senior Companies will hold two classes that are two hours in length
per week. One two hour session will be for jazz and ballet and the other two
hour class will be for tap and hip hop.
A Teen or Senior dancer may choose to audition for only one of the
two segments of the company or they can audition to be in both segments of the company. Junior
Company members are required to do both Tap and Jazz nights of the Company.
The Junior Company will participate in each competition in the tap and jazz categories. The Teen and Senior Companies will compete in tap, jazz and hip hop categories. The Teen and Senior ballet
dances will be for recital purposes only – not competitive purposes.
Each company dancer will also receive a free class that they can take outside of the company within their own
age group. A 4Star Teen or Senior Dancer will receive two free classes. Each company dancer will be required to attend the summer intensive camps in August. Senior Intensive Camp will be held
the week of August 10th. The Teen Intensive Camp will be held the week of August 17th. The Junior Company camp will be held August 26th, 27th and 28th.
Company Class times will be as follows:
PreCompany:
Tuesday
4:00 until 4:45
Junior Company Jazz: Monday
4:00 until 5:00
Junior Company Tap: Wednesday 4:00 until 5:00
Teen Ballet/Jazz Company:
Tuesday
6:30 until 8:30
Teen Tap/Hip Hop Company: Friday
4:00 until 6:00
Senior Ballet/Jazz Company:
Thursday
7:30 until 9:30
Senior Hip Hop/Tap Company: Monday
7:30 until 9:30
Is Company Right for Me?
Company is a big commitment and should be taken seriously by the dancers.
This will be faster paced and more difficult than regular classes. The
age guidelines for each company are listed below. (These are guidelines only)
PreCompany:
3rd Grade through 4th Grade
Junior Company:
4th Grade through 6th Grade
Teen Company:
6th Grade through 8th Grade
Senior Company:
8th Grade through 12th Grade
The company director will decide where each dancer will be placed within the company based upon skill. Company dancers should have a lot of spunk, catch on quickly to new concepts and be able to take constructive
criticism.
Company dancers will be held to strict rules and expectations in order to build a more team oriented experience. All company members will be required to sign an agreement to follow all rules and
expectations. If you break your contract, your position as a member of the company
will be terminated. All company dancers should expect to go to Florida or Chicago
for Co Dance Nationals every other year. Dancers
may be asked to go to a local National Competition if we do not attend Co Dance Nationals event. It is not definite that they
will attend, but all company members should be prepared for the extra expense.
Company dancers must adhere to the Company Absence Policy. Senior
and Junior 4Star members are allowed 8 excused absences throughout the Company
Season. Senior and Junior 2Star members are allotted 5 excused absences throughout the season. Junior Company members
are allowed 6 excused absences throughout the season. Anyone that exceeds the Absence Policy will be dismissed from the Company.
Important Company Dates
All company dancers will be expected to attend all competition and convention dates. We have contacted the companies to get their dates for next year but not all are available. We were able to get tentative dates for some of the competitions. We
will compete in at least 4 of the 5 local competitions listed below. If a regional

Summer Intensive Camp Details
Each company dancer will be required to attend the summer intensive camps in August. Senior Intensive Camp will be conducted Monday through Thursday the week of August 10th and the Teen Company
camp will be held Monday through Thursday the week of August 17th. Both
camps will run from 9:00 until 4:00.
The first half of the day (9:00 am until 12:00pm) will be for Ballet/Jazz company members. They will be working on balance, technique, and the perfection of jumps and steps. The second half of the day (1:00 pm until 4:00 pm) will be Hip Hop/Tap company dancers. The focus will be on rhythm, strength building, and expanding their knowledge to different forms of hip
hop.
There will be a lunch break from noon until 1:00 pm. Your dancer
must bring their own lunch as well as snacks and plenty to drink.
Junior Intensive Camp will be held August 26th, 27th and 28th from 1:00 until
4:00.
Team dances will be started during these intensives, so attendance is
required. The purpose
of these camps is to get everyone to the same level so that we can spend the latter half of the year focusing on perfecting
the dance. This will also start the team building process.
The fees for Intensive camps are as follows:
Junior Intensive
$ 75.00
Teen Intensive (2Star)
$100.00
Teen Intensive (4Star)
$175.00
Senior Intensive (2Star)
$100.00
Senior Intensive (4Star)
$175.00
Company Costs:
PreCompany is charged the same as another regular class. There are
no auditions for PreCompany so you are able to register for this class in the same manner you register for your other classes.
Junior Company will practice two hours per week. The monthly fee
for Junior Company is $110.00. This fee includes one regular class within the
dancer’s regular age group of their choice.
Each Teen and Senior company division will practice two hours per week.
If you participate in both companies at your age division (4Star), you will have four hours per week of classes. These will replace your regular classes. If
you are part of both Companies (4Star), you will also get two additional classes within your normal age group at no charge. If you are a member of one company, you will receive one additional class within your
normal age group at no charge. The monthly fee for one company is $110.00; for both companies it is $175.00 which includes
the two regular classes. Also, please note that the company classes will each
be one hour in length.
In addition to your monthly fees, you will incur additional competition related expenses such as costume fees,
competition fees, and Co Dance Convention fees. There will not be a registration
fee for Company classes or the additional classes in the dancer’s regular age group.
A complete list of costume, convention and convention fees will be provided to each dancer in their welcome kit
if they are selected for a SIM Company.
We will give all company dancers the option of paying all fees in 12 monthly payments beginning in June or a
monthly billing over the 9 month dance season.
How Do I Audition?
If you are interested in auditioning for company, attend your regular classes the week after recital to learn
the dance you will perform for auditions. All auditions will be held Tuesday, May 19th at 5:15 and Thursday, May 21st
at 6:45 pm. Dancers can come to either of the audition dates that fit their schedule.
These auditions are for dancers interested in Senior, Teen and Junior Company.
There will not be separate auditions for the two companies. Each dancer
must turn in the permission slip prior to auditions or they will not be able to participate in the auditions.
