On our second day we decided to drive back over Logan Pass to the Lake McDonald area on the west side of the park.  By the time we got over the pass it was snowing fairly heavily and it was raining cats and dogs at Lake McDonald.  Not to be deterred your intrepid travels decided, what the hell and we did a 2 hour horseback ride.  We were soaked to the skin when we finished (sorry no pictures - too much rain) so we dried off at the Lodge in Lake McDonald.  All of the lodges have the most incredible fireplaces where people can gather around to warm up, or read a book.  We took advantage of this several times during the trip.  By the time we were ready to go, Logan Pass was closed so we made the 3 hour drive around the south end of the park back to our hotel.

Deer in woods

Only a couple of photos made the web page, this bull moose wandered into the parking lot while we were eating breakfast, along with female and 2 calves.  As people started closing in with their cameras, he shook his head, grunted and they all went scurrying back into the woods.  Got the picture of the deer in the evening when we returned to the hotel.
