I would highly recommend that you pick up a guide book and try to learn some key phrases for the countries you will be visiting and spending more time in. You don’t need to be fluent!   Examples of useful words and phrases to know:  

• Thank you
• Please
• Good Morning / Good Afternoon / Good Evening
• Good Bye
• How Much?
• Where is the bus stop?
• Where is the ladies/men room
