I have decided that I want to take the famous 46-mile Road to the Isles journey during my stay in Scotland. This
is a route that begins in Fort William (at the foot of the highest peak in all of the UK, Ben Nevis) all the way to Malaig
where I can then take a ferry to the Isle of Skye.

This town will be my starting point on the Road to the Isles. I will rent my car here so I can take the Road to
the Isles and ferry over to the Isle of Skye. There are a couple of things that I want to see: First is the famous
Ben Nevis Mountain (highest beak in the UK).
And if I can swing it, I think it would be nice to go check out the Ben Nevis Distillery and maybe even get a nice bottle
for a souvenir! :) Better pack a couple of wine skins just in case....

Here I'll find the Glenfinnan monument was built by Alexander MacDonald of Glenaladale in memory of all the clansmen
who had fought in Bonnie Prince Charlie's fight for the British throne.
The next couple of stops were used to film a beautifully made movie called, Local Hero, that was recommended by Slow Traveler, AnnieNC.
LOCH AILORT/GLENUIG
The half way point between Fort William and Mallaig, I'll come across Loch Ailort and the small village of
Glenuig. Here I'll come across a small white church which was used in the filming of the movie "Local Hero."
Arisaig Bay and the beaches of Morar is very beautiful and is the location where such Films as "Local Hero" and "Highlander"
were filmed. There is much written here about the beautiful sunsets.
"While in the village of Morar, you should take the opportunity to visit the cross and viewpoint which affords panoramic
views of the Inner Hebrides and Loch Morar. The cross was erected in 1899 to commemorate the opening of the present church.

Here is where I will catch the ferry over to the island of Skye. I will want to spend the night before heading over
by ferry. I heard this is a charming fishing town and will at least be worth a night's stay, maybe.
