From her initial recordings with Tommy Dorsey and the Pied Pipers, in the early 1940s, to the end of that decade, Jo Stafford built a solid reputation as one of the most accomplished and musical singers of her time.

When she joined Columbia Records in 1950, she was labeled "America's Most Versatile Singing Star" - and as such, was given a wide variety of material to record.

This collection contains a cross-section of her Columbia work throughout this period - not her "Hit" recordings, which appear on other Corinthian CDs, but songs popular at the time, though in a few instances, neglected ever since. Some are real gems, most are worth hearing again and all of them evoke memories of times long past.

With a few exceptions, these recordings have never been issued on Compact Disc, so here, at last, is the chance to recall those days of innocence, back in the Fifties - and to hear once again the lovely voice of Jo Stafford and Paul Weston's versatile arrangements.
