I really wanted to thank everyone! (in no particular order –
my thoughts always bounce around)
Tanja Leung (AALSA VP) and her wonderful parents Francis and Cynthia Leung
- for standing out in the heat for 3 hours on Saturday.
Hong Wei Shang (newest AALSA member) for standing out in the heat for 3 hours
on Saturday and then bringing flyers to the autumn festival.
Joy Santos (my wonderful sister!) for standing out in the heat for 3 hours
on Saturday.
Jonjie Sibayan for helping me write letters to all the Asian organizations,
call businesses, deliver flyers to 3 businesses, speaking to the press for me, and standing out in the heat for 3 hours on
Saturday.
Pamela Fields, Deidre Aretini, Danielle Lindauer, Marie Romanos (members of
the Florida Association for Women Lawyers) for standing out in the heat for 3 hours on Saturday and not even being a part
of an Asian organization. Thank you so much for helping the Asian American Community!
Johnny Bardine (world traveler & AALSA Asian International Guru!) for not
getting offended when the trainer picked on his handwriting and for standing out in the heat for 3 hours on Saturday.
Scott Ehlers (one of our newest AALSA member who knew I was a Filipina; most
can’t tell) for standing out in the heat for 3 hours on Saturday.
Trinh Nguyen (AALSA Secretary – did you know she is only in her 1st
year in law school and she has been so active! Have you ever watched the Paper Chase? Okay,
Stetson is not as bad as that movie but it is still stressful!) for getting 2 sites for us and for standing out in the heat
for 3 hours on Saturday.
Deanne Fields (the honorary Asian; whenever we go out, she has to convince
people that she is not Asian and that I am).
Carlo Bondoc (AALSA Web designer) for constantly updating the Election Coalition
info on the web for me (this is really important to keep everyone on the same page) and for delivering 400 flyers to 8 businesses
(and not even asking for a refund)!
Neelofer Syed (Lawyer from Pakistan and a LLM student) for delivering flyers (and she didn’t even need any pro bono hours to graduate!).
Scarlett Guy and Stetson Student Services Office – for letting
the office be a center in all the paperwork.
Claire Lim (law transient student from Syracuse) for going to Korean Churches in Tampa.
Joey Omila (Director of the Philippine Performing Arts Company and owner of
Passport Travel) for sending my e-mails to everyone he knew (and he knows a lot of people!) and for connecting me to Asian
organizations in the US.
Paul Beraquit, Claire Picz, and the other officers from the Philippine Chamber
of Commerce for spreading the word among the members.
Angie Caculitan (President of the Bayanihan Cultural Center) for spreading the information among the members.
SB Woo (80-20 Initiative) and Kimi Springsteen (Hillsborough County
Asian Liaison) for being advisors.
Buddy Johnson (Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections) for advise and
support (by giving us hundreds of registration forms).
Dena Gross Leavengood (Tomorrow Matters) for leading me to Karen Burns
(League of Women Voters) who brought me to the Power On! Campaign.
Alma Ayalla (Power On! Campaign) for soooo much. She held
2 training classes in St. Pete and Tampa, came to
Stetson to register students, bought me lunch (hee-hee), and didn’t mind that I surprised her with the Press showing
up at a training. She helped the Asian American community even though her responsibility was just the South
St. Pete area.
I
know I forgot someone! Please tell me!
