MARKET:

Analog Science Fiction & Fact is a monthly magazine for the general future-minded audience. In other words, they're seeking good science fiction. The editors say, "We have no hard-and-fast editorial guidelines, because science fiction is such a broad field that I don't want to inhibit a new writer's thinking by imposing Thou Shalt Nots." This magazine pays 6-8 cents per word, up to $600.

NOTE: Analog Science Fiction and Fact is an American science fiction magazine. As of 2009, it is the longest running continually published magazine of that genre. Initially published in 1930 in the United States as Astounding Stories as a pulp magazine, it has undergone several name changes, primarily to Astounding Science-Fiction in 1938, and Analog Science Fact & Fiction in 1960. In November 1992, its logo changed to use the term "Fiction and Fact" rather than "Fact & Fiction".

One of the major publications of what fans and historians call the Golden Age of Science Fiction and afterward, it has published much-reprinted work by such major SF authors as E.E. Smith, Theodore Sturgeon, Isaac Asimov, Robert A. Heinlein, A. E. van Vogt, Lester del Rey, and many others.

COSMOS
http://www.cosmosmagazine.com/pdf/Cosmos_writers_guidelines.pdf
---
In many ways, it is a unique magazine: its discussion of
science, society, and the future might range over topics as
diverse as art, design, travel, exploration history,
philosophy and politics. It is a magazine about who we are
as a species and what we might become, our place in the world
and our future in the cosmos. While it does not seek to hide
the fact it is Australian, Cosmos is internationalist in
outlook and not overly focused on its home country.
Most of the smaller sections are in Express and are between
300 and 1,200 words in length. Payment for departments is
between A$180 and A$720 (between US$135 and US$520). There
is also a Profile section for interviews (between 2,000 and
3,000 words in length) an opinion column of about 700 words.
Cosmos welcomes travel pieces of up to 2,000 words. There are
usually five features per issue, from 1,500 words to 3,500
words in length; we will also consider a substantive article
of up 7,000 words. Payment for features ranges from A$900 to
a maximum of A$3,000 (US$650 to US$2,130).
