NEWS FLASH! This just in-
 
Suzanne Baginskie, Queen of Chicken Soup for the Soul stories is now taking over in A Cup of Comfort Anthologies. Her story, Jump In was selected for their anthology, Cup of Comfort for a Better World. Publication is slated for mid-March, 2010.  It's her second sale to them this year. Her first story, A Dog Most Wanted, came out last June in A Cup of Comfort for Dog Lovers. Read more on
 

FWA member, Irene Patino, is to be congratulated on the forthcoming publication of her novella, Jack, by Midnight Showcase Fiction www.midnightshowcase.com, Midnight Showcase Fiction is based in Houston, Texas. They are primarily e-book publishers, but also do print books. Jack, a 25K word novella is slated for publication in April, 2010.  A second book, A Matter of Survival, a fictional memoir makes its appearance in July of 2011.  CLICK HERE TO READ SYNOPSIS

 

Valerie Faulkner - took the First Place prize in the Royal Palm Literary Awards for best published Memoir for her book, I Must Be in Heaven - a promise kept.

She was invited to be a columnist in the first online Christian magazine, assigned to interview published authors. She seems to have found her niche. Husband Bill entered her book in the Inspirational category of the 2009 Next Generation Indie Book Awards. www.IndieBookAwards.com. Her title is included in the 2009 Next Generation Indie Book Awards Catalog, which was distributed at the annual Book Expo America. For a little gal who never wrote before or did much reading, she did well to listen to that still, small voice. Her book was featured as June's Book of the Month in The Infinite Writer.  IMustBeinHeaven.com Valerie is a member of the Pasco/NPR Writers Group.

 

Elaine Togneri's story "Memory Lake" was accepted for "FWA's
Collection #1 - From Our Family to Yours."  Elaine Togneri has twenty-five published short stories in markets ranging from webzines and anthologies (Blood on Their Hands) to major magazines (Woman’s World).  Elaine holds an MA in English from Rutgers University and has taught courses in English Composition, Technical Writing, and Short Fiction.  The founder and a past president of the Sisters in Crime - Central New Jersey chapter, Elaine relocated to Florida in 2007 and joined FWA shortly afterwards. She is a member of the Pasco/NPR Writer's Group.

Dan Anderson,  Orlando author, has just been informed that his humorous mystery, Bad Vibrations,  has been awarded a prestigious  2009 Independent Publishers Book Award (the IPPY) —  a Silver Medal in the Regional Fiction category.  This is the 5th literary award captured by Bad Vibrations, the previous awards being:

 
  • The Florida Writers Association Royal Palm Literary Award—First Place, Published Mystery 2008
  • The Books and Authors Murder Mystery Book of the Year 2008
  • The Rockway Press International Writing Competition Best Novel 2006
  • The Florida Writers Association Lighthouse Book Award—Mystery/Suspense 3rd Place

Dahris H. Clair, better known as Your Fearless Leader, and

editor of the prestigious e-zine, The Infinite Writer, was

informed that her story, Second Chance, was selected for

inclusion in the first FWA Anthology, From Our Family to

Yours.  Dahris is a multi-published author in  various

magazines, CATS magazine,  and her short short fiction

The Intruder,  is published in the Anthology,

Teacakes and Afternoon tales.  She is the group leader

of the NPR Writer's Group, and the coordinator of the

annual Do It! Write one -day conference.

 

Excerpts from her novel, The House on Slocum Road,

a paranormal suspense tale  and several of her short stories

are available on her website.

 

The anthology is available for purchase at the FWA Book Store.
