FWA'S MISSION STATEMENT

Florida Writers Association is a nonprofit 501(c)(6) organization of volunteers committed to encouraging and instructing writers toward excellence in their writing and fulfillment of their professional or artistic goals, and to promoting literacy by creating programs  involving  schools, clubs and other agencies."

PERKS & BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

FWA helps writers throughout the State with group Workshops/Meetings, Panel Discussions, Book Fairs, Quarterly Magazines, Annual Conferences, Local One-Day "Mini-Conferences, Electronic Information Sharing among over 500 members, and Networking with State and National Industry Leaders.  Whether you are a published author or a novice, a professional or a recreational writer, even if writing is presently nothing more than a distant dream, FWA is here to assist you in your goals by furnishing information about the publishing industry (local happenings as well as nationwide), and any other information or training that is pertinent to the advancement of your desire to write.

For those who are new to FWA be advised you are joining a prestigious   organization that is growing like Jack’s proverbial beanstalk. Our members are comprised of writers from the East to the West Coast, the northern to the southern regions of the U.S, while FWA's arms have reached across the oceans to gather members from as far away as India and Nigeria.

As is true with any organization, club or affiliation, what you derive from it is often dependent upon how much effort you put into it. Opportunities abound, but they don't necessarily seek you out. Asking questions is always the best way to get answers.

The FWA website gives a listing of writers groups according to regions and counties. www.floridawriters.net.

The Florida Writer is our quarterly magazine that is mailed to all members. It is comprised of material sent in by its members. Membership also qualifies you to enter the annual Royal Palm Literary Awards competition.
