~~~~~~~~~~~~Bandon, Oregon~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One of my most favorite places to be in the whole world is Bandon, Oregon where I lived & worked
for a time in both 2001 & 2002. I found Peace & Inspiration there & will be going back again...check out the link to their website & you'll
understand why I love it so much!
I lived right down the street
from the Coquille Point Beach & could walk for miles on end, it's a magical place...
The 2nd Street Gallery in Bandon was a
very successful venue for sales of my Mountain Dreams Jewelry. http://bandonbythesea.com
Shops, & Year-round Events. Located 120 miles from Seattle.
~~~~~Woodinville, Washington~~~~~
Just 15 miles Northeast of Seattle - Woodinville is a great place to spend some
serious time sampling the local offerings!
~Red Hook Brewery - Tour & Restaurant~
The tour was a lot of fun & I was impressed to see the inner workings of a Brewery
of this size & to sample their excellent products. Don't miss the
Blonde Ale, one of my personal favorites, which can now be purchased throughout the year in the entire U.S.
~The Ever Classy & Elegant ~
Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery
Wow-Is it ever beautiful & what a way
to spend an afternoon! In addition to the superb wine tastings you get plenty of photo-ops around the manicured
grounds. Don't miss the Canoe Ridge - Estate Wines.
FYI-The Winery is located within walking distance from the Red Hook Brewery, WA-HOO!
~~~Virginia City, Nevada~~~
Virginia City is about 1/2 hr. outside of Reno at an elevation of 6200 ft. The entire
town is on the National Historic Register as an authentic Boom Town of the Comstock Lode, when Silver Mining was King
back in the mid 1800's. At one time Mark Twain lived & worked there. The
original vintage feel of the town is still palpable & it's a really fun, interesting place to spend
some time exploring & there are special events going on all year long.
The very best Bloody Mary I ever had the pleasure of drinking was the
wildly popular secret concoction at the Bucket of Blood Saloon
with their colorful & artsy Tiffany Lamp decor--along with being served the best Poo-Poo Platter ever, at
the elegant & top notch, Mandarin Garden, which happens to be the only Chinese Restaurant in town.
My cousin, who's a great tour guide, lives 45 min. away in Gardnerville, NV &
I've been lucky enough to visit Virginia City several times with her.
There are over 22 miles of Hiking Trails & it's 1 of 5 Campgrounds located within Groton
State Forest in Central Vermont, outside of Barre, VT.
My introduction to camping was here at Ricker Pond where, as a child & again as a young
adult, I lean-to camped with my family & loved every minute of it!
This is also where I was introduced to & my love for hiking began.
The first Summit I ever had the thrill of reaching was on top of Owl's Head Mountain which rises to 1,958
ft. elevation. It's one of the special "snapshots" that I carry around in my mind which brings me true happiness
in recalling exactly how great it felt to get to the top of that Peak!
~~~~~~Marble Canyon, Arizona~~~~~~
During my last cross country excursion, on my way back to Florida from
California I decided to make my way across the Arizona Desert & came upon some of the most spectacular geography I've
ever seen--The Vermillion (Vivid Reddish Orange) Cliffs in Marble Canyon, Arizona.
Marble Canyon is the Geographical beginning to the Grand Canyon.
Recreational opportunities abound & it is definitely a feast for the eyes.
I stayed at the Historic Marble Canyon Lodge, located on Highway 80A (this was in the days before I owned my RV). The room was really nice & spacious &
it even had a full kitchen.
