Today we lay to rest Deacon Alex Saims, one of our brother deacons
from the first ordination class of 1982. We as a community of deacons offer our
prayers for Deacon Alex’s family and friends at this time. It is always
difficult to say goodbye to our friends and family but we take assurance in the resurrection and that for the years that Deacon
Alex had been sick he is now with Christ with no ailments.
Except for these last couple of years it seemed like nothing would
slow Deacon Alex down. I can still remember him coming to our annual retreat
the first year we were at Mundelein. It was Deacon Alex & Deacon Len Holland
who “drove” to Mundelein, I’m sure the Holy Spirit had to be with them.
It was nice to see both of them there!
Eternal rest grant unto Alex, O Lord.
And let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace.
