CLEAN SLATE
Many old nautical terms have
found there way into present day language. One such term is “a Clean Slate” In the days of great sailing ships, the helmsman would record the courses of
the ship, the distances covered, the depths of the water below and the land sighted during his watch by recording this information
on a piece of slate. At the start of each new watch, the slate was washed clean,
disregarding what had gone on in the preceding watch and starting the next watch anew.
Today, when you hear to phrase “starting with a clean slate”, it refers to starting a new beginning or
a second chance at something.
This may have been your most
fantastic year ever or may-be you’re just counting down the hours until the New Year arrives, hoping for a better tomorrow.
You may even be making New Years resolutions this week with great hopes for the
future only to wonder six weeks from now why things are still the same. Things
can always be better for us. No doubt we all have over looked something or someone
in our lives this past year. Why is that?
Perhaps our own successes or failures are blinding us to new opportunities that are before us!
The week before New Years
is traditionally a time for reflections and remembrances. As you recollect your
thoughts about the year just ending, let your mind and body start anew. Start
your New Year, this year, with a clean slate! Let the situations of this past
year melt into experience and wisdom. May the blessings of the universe rain
down on your slate, keeping it clean and fresh for all the opportunities that come before you this year.
As the year comes to an end
we like to count the things we are thankful for. Of those things the friendships
and business relationships I have made via CareerLink Network must
be counted. As I look back on the past year it has been quite an adventure which
some of you have been a part of. I do look toward the New Year with expectations
of ever greater success through CareerLink Network. It is my hope that I can be instrumental in the success of some of the members here as the opportunities
surface. From me and my family to you and yours… our wish for a joyous
holiday season and a very prosperous new year.
