About CareerLink Network

CLN Organization (CareerLink Network) is a faith-based not-for-profit services association based in Flower Mound, Texas.

What is the mission of CareerLink Network?

The mission of the CareerLink Network is to assist and support those seeking employment in advancing their job hunting skills and careers.

CareerLink Network will accomplish this by:

  • Providing not only the required services to seek gainful employment – how-to sessions, support groups, employment leads, and techniques for transition – but with additional full-service support by meeting member’s ever-evolving needs through prayer, networking, referrals, etc., thus supporting the most important part – the ‘whole’ member.
  • Becoming the largest faith-based pre-employment organization in the world by linking our network, offering our knowledge, services and materials with other groups similar to ours that seek assistance for their pre-employed members – thus increasing CareerLink Network’s breadth and depth of network membership, and access to an expanded network of recruiters and employment leads.

What are the core values of CareerLink Network?

The core values of CareerLink Network are the standards by which it measures individual and corporate performance.  These values define our approach to daily living, and influence interactions with each other and with people outside the immediate community.  CareerLink Network participants walk away with the knowledge and confidence that CareerLink Network and its members are on a mission to support all those with whom they come in contact, as feasible.

CareerLink Network’s values are represented by the values-centric acronym, F.A.I.T.H…

Ø      Freedom.             CareerLink Network participants work together in a forum that has been created to foster a free-flowing exchange of ideas, and emotions to encourage personal development among its members.  Participants are encouraged to exchange thoughts, and are respectful of the privacy of fellow members.

Ø      Attitude.                CareerLink Network participants acknowledge that other members are in various stages of pre-employment resulting in a wide range of attitudes and emotions – denial, anger, shock, stress, creativity, anxiety – and can relate to each stage and are tolerant and understanding of member’s needs.

Ø      Involvement.         CareerLink Network participants commit to involvement in CareerLink Network activities in whatever ways, and by whatever means, they are able.  Per their completed commitment form, as members become gainfully employed, each agrees to remain a part of our on-going commitment to other members.  CareerLink Network stresses a lifetime of networking opportunities.

Ø      Truth.                    CareerLink Network is committed to truth and honesty toward fellow members — in all of our thoughts, our actions, and our deeds.  CareerLink Network requires open and honest dialogue between members, straightforward, sincere evaluations, and truthful representation of themselves to prospective employers.

Ø      Humility.               CareerLink Network participants recognize they are pre-employed due to no fault of their own.  Members understand that the pre-employed person wasn’t a good fit with his employer, or the employer downsized or outsourced positions.

We pray for the strength that will allow each of us to become a better person, and we ask for the wisdom and insight to share our God-given talents and skills with others.  This service ethic keeps our members more peaceful – a critical trait among successful job seekers.

What does ‘faith-based’ mean?

CareerLink Network is considered ‘faith-based’ because until recently we held our sessions in church facilities, said a prayer at the beginning of the sessions and based the topics using our core values - F.A.I.T.H. - and our God-given talents to support and facilitate this group.  (Sessions are currently suspended.)

There is no specific denomination associated with this group.  We don't care what faith you are, or even if you don't have one... that makes us somewhat different from the other faith-based organizations.

There are also funds available to faith-based organizations from the government and as we move forward, we will use those funds to 'give back' to the community and support the group’s members.

Who is responsible for CareerLink Network?

CareerLink Network saw the need for regional job groups such as this one, and decided to create this Yahoo! Group to fill that need in the short term.  CareerLink Network would like the group to remain as open as possible, but recent abuses have resulted in moderation of all postings.

CareerLink Network maintains this group as a community service and receives no compensation for maintaining this group.  CareerLink Network reserves the right to edit messages for any reason at any time.  This will primarily be used to warn subscribers of potential fraud, or to remove commercial advertisements.

Please refer to the ‘HOW DO I CONTACT THE OWNER’ section for more information and methods of contacting CareerLink Network.

CareerLink Network ‘Yahoo! Group’ site

Can you describe the CareerLink Network ‘Yahoo! Group’ site?

The Yahoo! group serves the job seekers, employers and recruiters in the United States.  CareerLink Network’s current on-line presence (‘Yahoo! Group’ site) has generated personal and group inquiries from those wanting to take advantage of our large contact network to post and respond to employment opportunities and join CareerLink Network.

Employment opportunities are posted for response.  Members in our database have been actively responding to open positions around the country that CareerLink Network has posted, further extending the CareerLink Network job network.  Out of state member activity also includes the posting of additional jobs that the Texas group may not otherwise have access to and vice versa.

Additional sections included with the ‘Yahoo! Group’ which are used the most are:

  • Files:  Includes articles, resumes, tips, techniques, etc.
  • Links:  Includes URLs to various sites from education facilities to recruiters to other businesses and networking groups
  • Calendar:  Includes information on career workshops, job fairs, networking events, etc.  Reminders can be sent via e-mail.

At this time, the CareerLink Network ‘Yahoo! Group’ is a members-only, moderated group and free to members and those posting positions.

How do I stop all those messages from coming to my e-mail?

Keep in mind that the purpose of this ‘Yahoo! Group’ is to share information regarding job search.  This includes job leads.  The volume of messages generated may get extremely large!  That is great!  We want as many of our group members posting as much as possible that may be helpful to our job search.  Remember, just because a job lead is not a good fit for you, there are plenty of other group members that may want to see it.

Make sure you set your membership preferences correctly.  You can control whether you get every message posted, only get a daily summary of messages, or none at all.  You need to decide what you want to receive.  You need to ensure that your ‘Yahoo! Group’ settings are set up the way you would like.

Log in to the ‘Yahoo! Group’ and edit your membership to fit the settings you prefer à individual e-mails, daily digest, special notices or no e-mails.

What should I include when posting employment opportunities?

Job Leads Standards

The purpose of setting standards for sending job leads to the CareerLink Network list is to help the subscribers to identify emails of interest in a timely manner.  This is a moderated list.  So there a moderator intercepts, reviews or modifies email messages sent to the list.  This may result in your receiving information that is duplicated or is of no use to you but may be to others.  As we grow and the number of job leads increase, we must be conscientious about our communication and be as helpful to each other as possible.

The following standards and rules are designed to make everyone's job search more productive:

1.      The subject line must contain specific information regarding the job lead if you're generating the job lead, particularly from a website or standard email.  Sales Manager (3) - Timbuktu, TX

2.      The body of the message should include:

  • Full Job description (if possible)
  • Contact information (name. address, phone, e-mail address and URL)
  • A postal address and phone number or URL are recommended.

3.      Third party or emails that have been forwarded to you should be changed when necessary if the subject line does not match our standards.  Please make sure the contact information is included for correct response.

4.      Ask employers, family and friends to send their job leads to careerlink-network@yahoogroups.com at no charge!

Can I include attachments with my postings?

No.

Due to the many viruses available through virtual communications, attachments are not accepted via posted messages.  A file section is available for individual postings of appropriate files.  It is recommended that all subscribers scan attachments for viruses and worms before opening them.

Please DO NOT attach your resume in response to a posting.  Respond directly to the contact in the message with your resume and any pertinent information.

Back to Table of Contents

How many postings can I make?

There is currently no limit.  Please post one open position per posting.  This helps to ensure proper responses to the appropriate posting.  Should the moderators feel there is any abuse of this unlimited posting ability, the ‘post-er’ of the messages will be notified and a resolution suggested.

Back to Table of Contents

Can I include HTML in my postings?

Plain ASCII text is preferred because it is most easily read by all subscribers, but HTML is allowed.

Posting Resumes

Can I post my resume on the group site?

Due to the creation of the CareerLink Network resume database, the posting of resumes is not recommended on the ‘Yahoo! Group’ site for security reasons.  You may send your resume in Word format to careerlinkresumes@yahoo.com for inclusion in this database and for searching purposes.

If you should post your resume under the ‘FILES’ section on the ‘Yahoo! Group’ site, it is recommended that you delete all personal information, i.e., address and phone numbers, from your resume and only include an e-mail address.  This will help to informally secure your information.

Please remember when responding to an employment opportunity to only respond to the sender and NOT to the group.
