Baggage liability limitations
You should know that Airlines liability for loss,
delay or damage to baggage is limited unless a higher value is declared in advance and additional charges paid.
The
extent of airline liability is not based on the weight of the luggage nor its value. Airlines do not accept liability for
fragile, valuable, perishable articles or baggage, which is packed in damaged or unsuitable containers. We strongly recommend
all passengers obtain adequate travel insurance cover prior to their journey.
Identification
Every
piece of your checked baggage must be labeled with your name and destination address, we suggest a label should always be
placed inside each piece of baggage. Do not forget to remove tags and labels left over from previous flights - they may cause your baggage
to be delayed.
Departure
Before
presenting your baggage at check-in, please ensure it is locked, except when traveling from the USA. When traveling to the
USA, please be ready to unlock your bags on arrival before presenting them for re-checking on to connecting flights. When accepted, each item of checked
baggage will be given a destination tag showing your flight number and a receipt portion will be attached to your ticket.
Ensure the tag shows the correct destination and flight number and if you are making connections en route that your baggage
is checked to your final destination.
Security
Before
boarding your flight, your hand baggage will be checked by security staff using x-ray machinery. This machinery is totally
safe and any photographic equipment will also be safe (film material over 1000ASA/31 DIN should be removed and offered for
screening separately.) We recommend that you do not carry packages with unidentified contents
on behalf of other people and suggest that if you are asked to do so that you contact the local police, customs or member
of staff immediately. Checked baggage will be screened by security and matched against the passenger list prior to loading.
Transfers
If
your journey requires you to make a connection, your baggage will usually be checked to your final destination. In some instances
you may be required to identify or claim your baggage for security or local customs reasons.
Damage or delay
When
claiming your baggage at your destination, many suitcases look the same; please make sure you have collected your own. We
recommend that you check the name on the baggage tag and compare it to your receipt. Should you find that your baggage is damaged or has
not arrived, please contact the Airline staff immediately. If your baggage has been delayed, arrangements will be made to
have it delivered to your local address when it arrives (this service is not available in some countries due to local government
authority restrictions). Arrangements will also be made to assist you should items of baggage arrive damaged. In both situations,
of either damaged or delayed baggage, liability could be reduced if baggage was presented for check-in unsuitably packed or
after the recommended check-in time. To help us process your claim quickly, please quote the reference given to you when you
made your report for delay or damage.
Insurance
Airlines
accept no liability for the loss of jewellery, other valuables and money contained in checked baggage. You are advised to
keep valuables, important documents and money either on your person or in your cabin baggage. Personal and Baggage Insurance is available at:
