Alum Creek Osprey Banding

Osprey chicks at Alum Creek Lake in Delaware County will be banded at 9:00 am  on Tuesday, July 3, allowing the public a close-up look at this state endangered species. Wildlife biologists will retrieve the osprey chicks from their nests on platforms in Alum Creek Lake and bring them to shore where the public may observe the banding process. Once the banding is complete, the chicks will be returned safely to their nests. Learn more about this special event!

Love more wastefully....

I mentioned in class the other day that I loved a phrase that John Shelby Spong used in his book "Jesus for the Non-Religious"...love wastefully.  A lovely person heard that and made me this card.  My lovely husband captured this moment.

Here's the quote the phrase came from...

"The call of the God experienced in Christ is simply a call to be all that each of us is -- a call to offer, through the being of our humanity, the gift of God to all people by building a world in which everyone can live more fully, love more wastefully and have the courage to be all that they can be. That is how we live out the presence of God.

Breath currents....

kelp.jpgI've been drawn to doing a lot of side body work in my practice and in class lately.  I discovered that this work really frees up the breath. So much so that when I sit to meditate afterwards I feel very grounded through the base of the spine but the rest of my body softly sways with the breath.  The image that came to mind to describe it was like seaweed moving with the ocean currents in a kelp forest...the waves of the inner currents moving gently through the whole body...I get out of the way and let it flow.  So very peaceful.

If you get on this web cam between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. pacific time you can see live video of the Monterey Bay Aquarium kelp forest.
