Busy - B Preschool
& Family Child Care
My name is Elizabethann L. Jimison. I prefer, Liz. I love working
with children. I have a college degree and I run my own pre-school / family child care in my family's home.
My goal is to prepare children for kindergarten and life. The maximum
I take in, are, 6 pre-schoolers ages 2-5yrs. (That is how many my van holds and this way they can all go on the field trips).
My program includes gross and fine motor activities. We start our
mornings with free choice activities. After cleaning up and a morning snack, we have circle time (M, W,& F) and Big Books
and puppet shows (T & Th). We have fun while mastering rhyming, sequencing, colors, numbers, shapes, phonics, word recognition,
patterns, classifying, matching, cutting, pasting, writing, painting, social and self-help skills along with other critical
thinking skills.
We have a science/art room, a play room where we have a book corner,
dramatic play area, a block building area, with legos, cars, people, etc...and another room with a table where we do arts
and crafts, puzzles, drawing, play-doh, and various individual manipulatives and have computer activities.
In the afternoon when we are not on a field trip we are probably
out to some area park.
We go on field trips--'exploring our world'. We learn from each
other; hopefully learning to be patient, share, and acquire empathy. We strive to 'work with' and 'get along with' others
and appreciate and accept differences.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work/Child Development. I also
have a CDA degree. My site is Gold Seal and Nationally Accredited. I am licensed, belong to the local family child care association,
and continue to attend workshops and conferences on child care and concerns regarding children.

ABOUT MY FAMILY:
My husband is, Rik Jimison. He is a 'Human Services Program Analyst' for Sarasota County. We
raised 4 children, three of our own and a nephew. Our three children live in Tampa, Fl. Our two daughters both
have their Bachelors Degree. The oldest, Alycia, is working part time. She and her husband, Mike are raising
a son, Connor, now 7yrs. old and are expecting their second son on 6/24/09. Vanessa (our second daughter)
is home with her daughter, Ava, 3 yrs. old, and their son Jack, born April 2008.
Our son, Aaron, finished up his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and works for Sun Trust Bank
as a 'Business Banker'. He just got married 6/19/09 to his long time girl friend, Lindsay Shrout. Our daughters
are both married to wonderful young men and now our son is married to a wonderful young lady. We feel very fortunate.
Our nephew, Mark, had a very difficult start in life. We did not have him in our family till he was 7 yrs. old.
He lives in a group home and is doing very well there.
I am able to operate my preschool / family child care, participate in my local family child care association,
attend conferences and workshops, and participate in the gold seal and national accreditation programs, because of a very
caring and supportive husband. He also is my main substitute for my preschool / family child care.
I also use a couple other substitutes when needed but that rarely happens.
We have a dog, a 4 yr. old yellow Lab , 'Simba' and two cats, 'Paws' and
'Ginger'. We like taking walks for exercise. We bowl in a league, Friday nights, for fun. My

We belong to the Baha'i Faith and are very active in our local group. (If you are wondering what the

We have lived in Florida for 28 years. (14 years in Ft. Myers and14 years in North Port) I was
born in Hawaii and Rik in New Jersey. I grew up mainly in Hawaii, Rik mainly in Ohio. We met and married at college
in Ohio. We lived 9 years in Indiana (where Rik got his Master's Degree) before moving to Florida.
