A Message from Dawn and Reid

We would like to say thank you to all the officers who have supported us over the last two years and to all the club members who have been so willing to do whatever they can to keep our club active.  Without their support our club would not be here today.

Waubonsee Special

Once again our Waubonsee Special dance on April 19^th  was great fun.  Tony Oxendine entertained our square dancers after a dramatic race to get to the dance on time (his plane was delayed) and Angie Huckeby ably cued our round dancers. Thirty-three Sugar Squares members and students welcomed 135 guests to the Waubonsee Special.  There were at least 16 squares on the floor. Refreshments were bountiful and delicious.  Thank you to everyone who helped make this dance a success.

Banner Report

Sugar Squares dancers visited 18 clubs this year and stole 7 banners and 1 crying towel.  We also retrieved 7 banners from other clubs.  A special thanks to Cele and Jerry Bahl and Earleen and Rodger Haga for coordinating the banner attempts this year.

Student Graduation

Graduation for this year’s student dancers was held Sunday April 27, at the Kaneville Community Center.  Bob Asp called the dance and certificates were awarded to Kaye and Nick Bruscato and Laurie and Kevin Geary.  Please be sure to welcome them to our club.

Membership Meeting

There will be a meeting after the May dance to elect officers for next year.  At this time, no one has volunteered to serve as president for next year.  This position is vital and needs to be filled if the club is to continue.  The Banner Co-chair position is also available.  Cele and Jerry Bahl will be co-chairs if someone will agree to do the e-mail part of the job.  Please consider serving as next year’s president or banner co-chair.  The current slate of officers appears below:

The Elburn Days Parade is scheduled for August 15 and the date of our annual picnic will be announced.  Have a great summer!
