General Qualifications:
- at least 21 years of age with good moral character
- a citizen of the United States; respect & obey the laws of the United
States of America
- willing to learn, abide by & teach the Scout Oath & Law (Cub
Scout Promise & Law of the Pack)
- believe in the values & purposes of Cub Scouting
- interested in working with boys & able to work with adults
- able to communicate well with adults as well as boys
- able to accept & delegate responsibilities
- able to lead as well as follow
- set a good example through behavior, attitude, & proper uniforming
- subscribe to the BSA statement of religious principle & promote the
religious emblems program
General Responsibilities:
- Plan & help carry out the Cub Scout program according to BSA policies.
- Complete Fast Start Training & position-specific Basic Leader Training,
if applicable.
- Help recruit new boys throughout the year.
- Know about & use the appropriate & available literature, including
your Scout’s handbook, Boys' Life & Scouting magazines, Cub Scout Program Helps, & the Den Leader & Webelos
Leader Guides.
- See that the pack program, leaders, & Cub Scouts positively reflect
the interests & objectives of the chartered organization (St. John’s Lutheran Church) & the BSA.
- Work with leaders on program ideas, selecting & recruiting adult
leaders, & establishing a budget
- See that Scouts receive a quality, year-round program filled with fun
& activities that qualify the dens & pack for the National Summertime Pack, Quality Unit, & Founder’s Awards.
- Work as a team with the pack committee & pack leaders to cultivate,
educate, & motivate all parents or guardians in Cub Scouting. Involve male relatives such as uncles & grandfathers
so that Cub Scouts will have additional male role models.
- Participate in the annual planning conference, monthly pack leaders'
meetings, & monthly roundtables.
