Biographical Sketch

Born and raised in Herrin, Il.
 
Graduate of Herrin High School.
 
Served in the army as a medic during WWII.  Served in N. Africa and Italy.

Education

Earned BA degree at McKendree College.
 
Wrote my Master's paper on Hypnosis for completion for my MS degree.
 
Taught school for 28 years.
Began the study of Hypnosis through a correspondence course taught by Harry Arons, the author of the text book that I use for my courses.
 
Took my oral examis in New Orleans in 1969 to become a Hypnosis Consultant, and Certified Hypno-technician.  Certified by the Association for the Advancement of Ethical Hypnosis, AAEH.
 
The AAEH was probably the first hypnosis organization in the U.S.  It was very conservative in philosophy and in the practice of hypnosis.
 
I am a Charter Member of the International Hypnosis Federation.
 
I have spoken to and demonstrated hypnosis for Southern Illinois to Chicago.

Herrin First United Methodist Church

Free Hypnotism workshops.

Volunteer with home delivered meals, Williamson County Programs on Aging.

On the Board of Directors of the Herrin United Way.

President, Herrin Educational Foundation.
 

Family

Don lives in Herrin with his wife of 62 years, Mayme.
 
They have one son, Jerry Benitone, physician and surgeon, and six grandchildren.
